Glerk is a gecko cyborg from Mobius. He was found by Whirl one day, unconscious and barely alive, and was only saved thanks to some robotic implants. Unfortunately, Glerk has amnesia and no idea of any event prior to Whirl saving him, and as such his past remains a mystery that still haunts him. Whirl is his best friend, but since Whirl began to be with Evelyn more, he's started hanging out with Metal Chaos more often.

Top Story Bio
Not much is known before he met Whirl, but when Whirl found him he was in pretty bad shape. Thanks to Whirl's technology, he was able to survive, but as a cyborg. He unfortunately lost all memory of what happened beforehand, except his name is Glerk. He possesses above average speed, and can change his color at will.
History
Awakening
Glerk's earliest memory is a blurry image of what looked to be a laboratory. He could make out two figures, one tan and another sort of a periwinkle color. Eventually he completely came to, but had no idea of where he was or what was going on. The tan figure, a rabbit, introduced himself as Tabbir, though his friends call him Whirl, and the other figure, a strange metal robot, was known as Metal Chaos, or a robot of the Chaos creature. Glerk asked what was going on, and Whirl explained to him that he had found him outside in a very, very bad shape; so bad, in fact, that the only way to save him was to make him a cyborg.
Glerk was shocked at this and more than a little nervous, and could hardly walk at the time. Whirl asked Glerk what had happened to him, but Glerk's response was he had no idea. He had lost all memory prior to waking up, and began to freak out when Whirl calmed him down. Whirl said he would help Glerk, and after a time Glerk got more used to his robotic parts. Although he never regained his memory, from then on he was good friends with Whirl and Metal Chaos, and slowly became fully used to his robotic parts and not having memory prior to meeting Whirl.
Helping Whirl
Glerk would then help Whirl out on missions. He learned that there was a girl named Evelyn who loved Whirl (possibly madly), and there was also an enemy Whirl had, Slike F. Elion. Although Glerk would help Whirl fight against him, Glerk first left Mobius several years after meeting Whirl when the Chaos Emeralds were at Star World. Dr. Eggman had gone to locate them, and Whirl decided to follow him. Glerk and Metal Chaos came along, and Whirl stayed hidden as he saw Dr. Eggman's ship battle against another ship that apparently had the Chaos Emeralds. Whirl had detected Platinum Shrooms on the ship, and sent a portal into it.
Out from the portal came the YB and former-YB, a group of fellows on Star World sworn to protect Yoshi (and do other such things). The ship Dr. Eggman was fighting was the ship of the X-Nauts, and Whirl battled them both with his ship; with it being sleeker and faster than the others, he was able to avoid most damage until the ship was paralyzed by a mysterious fourth party; this was Slike, who had followed Whirl to locate the Chaos Emeralds. To prevent them any of them from getting the emeralds, however, Whirl used his Portal Producer to send the emeralds teleported throughout the cosmos.
A few months later, while the Metal Army was attacking Mobius, Whirl and Glerk were relocated by GUN to a safer location. Despite this, Whirl must have thought his lab even safer, as he left Metal Chaos and Evelyn there. This ended up being a mistake when the X-Nauts took Evelyn captive, wanting to trade for Whirl's knowledge of the location of a Chaos Emerald. Glerk suggested they tell the Galactic Federation, but Whirl went ahead and attempted to barter with them, only to run right into a trap. Without warning, however, a group of clone troopers, led by Coshi showed up and saved Whirl, Glerk and Evelyn.
They had escaped to a planet near Hocotate, but after the X-Nauts found them and attempted to kidnap them once more, a massive force of Metal Army ships appeared. As the base degraded into chaos, Glerk, Whirl, Coshi, Metal Chaos and Evelyn hurried to escape. They just barely made it thanks to Coshi, and were able to escape both the Metal Army and X-Nauts. Eventually the Metal Army were gone from Mobius, and they returned to Whirl's lab.
Several months later, Glerk and Metal Chaos got a call from Whirl--the Master Emerald had been stole by a robot of Top, and Whirl was actually working with Slike to stop it. Although they were suspicious, they went ahead and tried to help Whirl, but ended up getting there late. They eventually found Whirl, however, along with Slike and Team TOT and friends, but it also turned out Evelyn had followed Glerk and Metal Chaos. Whirl allowed her to stay, although he felt that he would regret it.
Unfortunately, they ended up going into the wrong ship, where they found two creatures, Orp and Hurtilu. They fought against them, eventually winning, but the ship veered off and they all fell out an open door to the jungle below. Glerk fell on a kirby named Frob, who was there with his yoshi, Bread. They decided to help out, and then out of nowhere Hey You appeared and introduced himself in song. They got onto the last ship, where they encountered Metal Top, who used the Master Emerald to make itself invincible, but though they were able to win, Metal Top was able to drop them, along with the emerald, out of the ship.
They were able to regroup (sans Slike and Yttik), and went to find the Master Emerald. The signature was coming from a strange buildin in the jungle, the Secret Military Organization Secret Base. They were able to blast their way inside and find the emerald, although General Distinct was there and wasn't going to let them get it easily. Just then the ceiling burst open as Slike came in, attempting to steal the emerald with a mech that was powered up by it, but after the emerald was knocked out of the mech it was weakened and though Slike escaped, they returned the emerald to Angel Island.
One month later, Glerk saw Slike was attacking Station Square and got Whirl to help fight him; however, things did not go well as Slike not only defeated Tails and Sonic, but were able to nab their emeralds. Although the others kept running, Slike was constantly able to catch up to them somehow, eventually attacking Glerk and Metal Chaos and taking their emeralds. Whirl and Evelyn, on the other hand, were able to escape with one emerald, though it still left Slike with five. Slike imprisoned Glerk, Metal Chaos, Tails and Sonic, and it turned out Slike had somehow broken time or something, causing such a huge number of Slike to exist at one time that it may have been infinite.
Less than a week later, Slike had kidnapped Whirl, Evelyn, and a host of others that were with them. Having gotten the sixth emerald, Slike focused on the seventh, during which Knuckles and Team Chaotix were able to break them all out of the prison. They escaped, only to immediately go back to try and defeat Slike. As they all moved through Station Square, they were repeatedly separated until only Glerk, Whirl, Metal Chaos and Evelyn were left to fight against the future Slike, the Slike that had set all of this in motion. For a good part of the battle, however, Glerk was stunned when the future Slike mentioned his family to him, asking if he knew what had happened to it.
Metal Chaos snapped him out of it though, and helped fight the future Slike's vessel, but in the end the future Slike cheated to win and prepared to kill them all in one swoop. However, before he could, everything suddenly stopped and reverted to where Slike had never broken time. Glerk was very confused, but The Doctor explained that he, Kioles, Arami and Team Chaotix used his vessel, the TARDIS, to stop Slike from "breaking time". The Chaos Emeralds had somehow stabilized time back to how it should have been, and Slike was finally imprisoned. Due to that, Whirl no longer had to deal with him, and finally officially got together with Evelyn. After this, however, Glerk began thinking about his unknown past more than ever before...
With Metal Chaos
Now that Whirl was officially with Evelyn, he began to be with her more often than Glerk and Metal Chaos. Therefore, he began to go off and do dangerous missions less often. When the SWDF, Galactic Federation, PDF and others went on to defeaet a universal evil being known as The Dark Perforation, Whirl asked Glerk and Metal Chaos to go help. They agreed, and flew off in Whirl's ship, now named Rabbit Fire. They made their way into the Dark Perforation Castle, eventually reaching the back area of it where Glerk split with Top, Coshi and Sunset into the Judgment group, the group whose goal was to free any prisoners in the castle.
Glerk and the others found a torture chamber, and went around freeing the prisoners there. With their job done, they had just one more thing to do. Entering the final room, they came across Minorbu, Orp and Hurtilu. A fight ensued, in which they won, but then Metal Top attacked them, though they also won. Finally The Dark Perforation came forth and attacked them. Although only energy attacks worked against it, they were able to do enough damage to eventually defeat it... or so it seemed. It began to spark, as if it was in pain, and faded away into a black hole! Top was sucked in, and some data files of Metal Top activated, revealing The Dark Perforation was, in reality, a black hole controlled by a space virus.
Soon, the rest of them were sucked in, but instead of being ripped apart, they found themselves in an arena-like area created by the space virus. The space virus had lost conrol of the black hole, but said if it defeated them it could gain enough energy to control it again. They all refused, and battled it. Eventually they destroyed the space virus using star energy and destroyed The Dark Perforation in entirety, destroying the castle and all of its creatures along with it.
A few months later, Whirl and Evelyn had gone on vacation leaving Glerk and Metal Chaos at the lab. Glerk was once again thinking about his past when a mailpelican, Pailem, showed up to give Glerk a couple letters. One had Hey You in it, while the other was from the Getcro Kingdom, mailing him to ask about "Prince Glerk". Surprised at this, Glerk decided to go see if he really was prince of the Getcro Kingdom. Metal Chaos and Hey You went along, and they ran into Arami, Kioles, and a robed girl who called herself Karma in the Mystic Ruins.
They all decided to travel together to the Getcro Kingdom, where Glerk attempted to find out if he was prince Glerk, but when King Galzo concluded he was not, he mistook Glerk for an imposter and had them imprisoned. While imprisoned, a short human-like person who called himself Dyna appeared to break them out, but they were spotted and had to fight gecko guards. The queen, Queen Quinnio, stepped forth to battle them, but were interrupted when the temple was attacked. They rushed there to find Dr. Eggman, Razabi and Dyna (actual name: Ridley).
Dr. Eggman was after the third piece of an emerald called the Nega Emerald, and when it was put together, he could use it to superpower a Chaos Emerald, of which he had one. There was a brief struggle over it, which ended in the purple emerald, which Arami had, falling onto the Nega Emerald. Arami made a grab for it, and accidently activated the Nega Emerald, temporarily turning her evil. Ridley tackled her off it, though, and the struggle was about to continue when a portal opened and Eggman Nega came in, along with an evil mirror of Arami, Imara.
The Nega Emerald was actually an emerald Eggman Nega built to be used by Imara to make her incredibly powerful, and although she was able to use it, Metal Chaos used the Chaos Emeralds to destroy the Nega Emerald and stop them. King Galzo apologized to them for mistaking them for imposters, and although Glerk didn't find out where he was from, he returned to Whirl's lab, only to hear the horrific news that Slike had escaped.
Personal Information
Personality
Glerk is somewhat reserved partly due to his amnesia and being a cyborg, but has gotten less reserved over the years. He is often unsure of himself and other things, and can be irresolute and sometimes doubtful of things. He is often a shadow character, being in the shadow of Whirl, similar to how Luigi is often in the shadow of Mario. Despite this he is hard-working and good-natured, and will help out those in need. While not one to pick a fight, he will fight in self-defense if needed. He often seems to prefer using more basic gecko abilities as opposed to his cyborg parts. His lack of a past due to amnesia is often the number one thing that clouds his mind.
Appearance
Glerk is a Mobian gecko with his left half organic, while his right half is robotic; a cyborg. He wears no gloves and no shoes, and has three blinking lights on his robotic half of his head. He can change his color at will, but his organic side is normally white in color.
Abilities
Glerk has a number of robotic abilities due to his cyborg parts such as weaponry, but generally doesn't use them and so there is insufficient data on them. One thing he does use his cyborg parts for is they allow him to change color effortlessly, even beyond that of basic camaflouge. He can also roll into a ball like Sonic the Hedgehog, stick to flat surfaces with his hands and feet, and has a long tongue he can use to attack foes from afar.
Final Smash: Over Nine Thousand Laser
Glerk charges, and fires a super-powerful beam similar to Samus’ FS. However, it’s more powerful; the tradeoff is that he’s in a worse position once he uses it. Glerk will be unable to use any moves related to his robot half until getting another Smash Ball. If it was actually SSBB that would mean his standard moves would be the same except the ones that require his robot half wouldn’t have the extra robot stuff, while his special moves would change.
Residence
Glerk resides in Whirl's Lab with Whirl, Metal Chaos, and sometimes Evelyn.
Interactions with Other Characters
Tabbir "Whirl"
- Main Article: Tabbir "Whirl"
Whirl is said to be Glerk's best friend, having saved him from death and the two often hanging out together. Glerk oftentimes helps Whirl on missions, but this is not always the case. Ever since Whirl and Evelyn officially got together, however, Glerk has been seen with him less often. When teamed with Metal Chaos, Glerk is speed, Whirl is flying and Metal Chaos is power.
Kioles
- Main Article: Kioles
Glerk and Kioles' relationship is one that is hard to say exists. In The Prince and the Spider, Kioles couldn't even remember Glerk's name at first, as Glerk was mostly seen with Whirl and Whirl generally was in the forefront. However, the two are shown to be on friendly terms.
Slike F. Elion
- Main Article: Slike F. Elion
Like Whirl, Glerk sees Slike as an enemy, but as Slike is Whirl's main foe and rival, Glerk is seen more as a side-thing to Slike.
Metal Chaos
- Main Article: Metal Chaos
Glerk and Metal Chaos get along well and are often seen together. Metal Chaos helps Glerk out often, and although Whirl was the one to build him, is seen with Glerk more often. Glerk seems to be able to understand what Metal Chaos is trying to say when it speaks its squishy sounds, too. When teamed with Whirl, Glerk is speed, Whirl is flying and Metal Chaos is power.
Evelyn
- Main Article: Evelyn
Although Glerk bears no ill will to Evelyn, he finds her somewhat of a nuisance, even after she and Whirl officially got together. This would be due to the fact Whirl now spends more time with her than Glerk. Glerk is still willing to help save her when he needs to, though.
Trivia
- Glerk's spot was originally held by Metal Shadow, but after Topmonhit realized he didn't like Shadow, he got rid of it and made Glerk.
- Glerk has only had a starring role in one story, The Prince and the Spider, and has only been in one other story without Whirl, The Great Creator and The Great Destroyer.
- Although Glerk's sprite shows his robotic side as being gray while his organic side as white, he can change what color he is at will. It is assumed the lights on his robotic side can change color as well, as he can turn himself invisible.
