History
Raised in Bugoto
Rau Bugoto was born on Bugoto Island to a prestigious military family. His mother, Vera Bugoto, was in charge of the Bugoto SWDF Naval Academy, while his father was a famous pilot who died in the Taros Lane Engagement. During his academy days, he was trained in the art of Gunblade combat, considered a difficult and impractical weapon due to its considerable weight and low accuracy. At the age of 17, he dropped out of the academy and moved off of the island, changing his name to Coshi in order to evade his parents.
Mercenary and Yoshi Bodyguard
Coshi traveled Star World, taking odd jobs here and there in order to survive. He spent a good deal of time with Professor Franky in Rogueport, and served as an assistant for a short time. Academia quickly bored him, and he went out to sell his services as a mercenary. Several odd jobs later he began to gain a degree of fame.
This fame caught the attention of Asmodeus Yoshilier, who was putting a team of heroes together in order to create his own private force of Bodyguards for his family. He personally extended an invitation to Coshi, who accepted. Coshi served for a good deal of time in the Yoshi Bodyguards when he met a young Lekshi named Plasshi. The two became fast friends, then quickly became romantically involved.
Liberating Ryshi
Coshi served several battles against the COUE, personally maintained a vendetta against their leader Mysterio. Several years into their service Plasshi was gifted with a dream that told her to return to her homeworld of Ryshi in order to help with its liberation from the COUE. Coshi followed Plasshi to guard her, and the two quickly set about uniting each of the scattered nations against the COUE and Porthex forces on the planet.
When the nations of Ryshi finally united to push off the COUE forces occupying their planet, Emperor Kyon gifted Coshi with the honor of commanding the Great Panaj, a ship which, according to legend, was made from the hollowed out carcass of one of the ancients of the planet. Coshi's piloting skills allowed him to use the ship to bust through to the COUE's flagship. Coshi and Plasshi personally boarded their main ship, and killed the COUE General Mysterio, ending his rule over Ryshi.
Marriage and Metal Wars
Coshi returned to serve with the Yoshi Bodyguards, taking part in a few of their operations. Soon though he proposed to Plasshi, and the two were web aboard the Great Panaj on Ryshi. As a wedding gift, the Emperor gave Coshi the battleship in order to aid him in his time at the Yoshi Bodyguards. Coshi also served on the frontlines of the Metal Wars, giving the authority to command several clone regiments against the Metal Army. He served in two minor campaigns before returning to Star World.
Coshi would later be forced to return to Bugoto after a security revealed his wife Plasshi attacking the island. Plasshi was arrested by SWDF forces, which enraged the Ryshi nobility. Coshi was forced to once again confront his parents, who were shocked he was still alive. Eventually, the Yoshi Bodyguards discovered that it was the Porthex of the old COUE who were attempting to get revenge on Coshi and Plasshi for their defeat on Ryshi. Their mountain base was destroyed, and Plasshi was pardoned.
Coshi would return to the frontlines of the Metal Wars, and oversaw the defense of Mobius from the Metal Army's Zinc Legion. On that world he noticed the X-Naut fleet hiding behind the planet's shadow, and shadowed their activities. He discovered they were attempting to steal Mobian scientist Tabbir Whirl in order to get his research on the Chaos Emeralds. When the X-Nauts had Whirl surrounded, Coshi moved in with the Great Panaj, and broke the X-Naut fleet just in time to save Whirl. He moved him to a secret Yoshi Bodyguard base on the Distant Planet.
While there, Coshi learned of the seventh emerald hidden on the planet Alinos the X-Nauts wanted. Before he could take action the X-Naut conscripts raided his base. Coshi held his own until the then-dormant Metal Army forces on the planet began to overrun his base. Coshi took Whirl and his friends to a dropship, and the group escaped to the Great Panaj. After hiding on Star World until the Mobius Invasion settled, Coshi took Whirl back to his planet.
After this incident, Coshi had a daughter named Sera. He asked that Subsourian Ereshikigal train her in the magical arts, for which he reluctantly accepted.
After the Yoshi Bodyguards were officially split up, Coshi remained with the clone army after it merged with the SWDF. He maintained the rank of commander, and helped serve in several small scale battles against the Neo-COUE. In his leave of absence, Coshi was known to help Team TOT in some of their missions.
Coshi evacuated the planet after the Star World Civil War, and moved with Plasshi and Sera to Ryshi. When the SWDF was given over to the Galactic Federation, Coshi retired, living out his days on Ryshi with Plasshi and Sera.
Personal Information
Personality
Early in his life, Coshi was reckless and adventurous, as well as fiercely independent. Ever since he has married Plasshi, his rebellious streak has begun to settle down. He is known to be more caring now, and one who is proud of his wife and daughter. This has not diminished his fighting spirit however, and up until retirement he was still lauded as one of the SWDF’s finest commanders.
Abilities
Coshi has the standard abilities of his race, including a long adhesive tongue. Coshi is most well known for his use of the Bugoto Gunblade, a rare weapon only developed on Bugoto Island. He is a student of the Dreshyu style of sword fighting, a style which values speed over solid offensive power. He is known for using a one-handed Gunblade, a smaller version of the usual two-handed Bugoto weapons that suffer from a decrease in accuracy. This style while fast, accurate, and powerful leaves him open to attack and prevents precise parrying.
Coshi is also a fairly strong individual, and can hold his own in unarmed combat.
Coshi, like his family, is renowned for his skills as a pilot. He is the captain of the Great Panaj, and has given a fierce reputation to the mighty ship with his skill tactical maneuvering of the ship. In the Battle of Raxu V, Coshi was able to take down a Komusai Invasionary Craft and several fighter escorts before the enemy could respond, earning him the stripes of an SWDF fighter ace.
Final Smash: Gunblade Storm
Coshi spins his enemy and forms a small whirlwind, trapping them in one spot. He then repeatedly slashes at the immobile target, hitting them while they are spinning and usually tearing them apart.
Family
Coshi came from a long line of Bugoto warriors, his father being a famed SWDF Fighter ace. His mother was named Vera Bugoto, and was a caretaker of the SWDF Bugoto Naval Acadamy. Coshi had no sibblings. He is married to Plasshi, and has a daughter named Sera.
Items
"Griffinsoul" Gunblade
Originally the Lionheart Gunblade. It was a Bugoto family heirloom passed down by many generations. When Coshi snuck out of the academy, he stole the relic for his own. It was later reforged by unknown means into the Gryphonheart Gunblade. The blade is forged from an adamantium alloy, while the gun seems to be based off of the LA-24 semi-automatic laser rifle. This weapon uses hot cells, which can penetrate most forms of armor, with custom fitted cells that can be recharged via solar energy. The blade itself is stronger than most metals, and with the energy grid built into the blade it is able to pierce most forms of armor with ease.
Gunblade Daggers
Coshi's sidearms are two small Bugoto Gunblades refitted into daggers. They use solid ammunition, and are six-shooters with a barrel stock. These are outfitted with Deznium alloy, aiding the dagger aspect in their durability and combat poweress.
Other Blades
Other than Gunblades, Coshi is known as an avid knife collector. He has been known to colelct blades from all over Star World, including some from the era of Imperial Yoshis. He is especially fond of the Bugoto Gunblade, of which he has twenty-three different blades of.
Jet Shoes
Coshi is outfitted with a special apparatus that boosts his speed in combat and allows him to jump considerably higher. These boots are prototypes developed by Mexous Sniffin, and are prone to malfunction. A final model was to be developed, but research time was never devoted to it.
Sonic Gernades
Coshi has a special array of grenades custom made by Mexous. These grenades send a sonic wave out that destabilizes solid structures, including organic matter. They are efficient versus armor, but are also prone to not detonating.
ARC Trooper Armor Custom
A customized Yoshi Bodyguard Clone Advanced Reconnaissance Commandos armor modified for Coshi. He wore this in order to distinguish himself as a Yoshi Bodyguard in frontline combat. Like most advanced armor systems, it can uplink PS systems, lock onto targets via HUD, survey squad member and ally statuses, and scan targets for upload into the PS database. The armor protects Coshi from hostile environments, such as radiation, extreme heat, and outer space. The armor’s combat systems have been updated to his own fighting style, allowing him to improve his reflexes in combat.
Platinum Shroom
The PS System is standard for all Yoshi Bodyguards, and allows long range communication, access to database of all creatures encountered, language translation, and in some cases short range teleportation. Coshi planned to improve upon this model, but Sneezier was never given clearance to finish the project.
Other Items
Thanks to his rank in the SWDF, he has a variety of items at his command, both military grade and for standard civilian use.
Residence
His home is located in New Yoshitropolis ona villa on top of a tall apartment. When he is assigned a mission or is forced to travel between planets he has a room aboard the Great Panaj.
Appearance
Coshi is a Bugoto Yoshi with a muscular build. He has a scar on the left side of his nose from a training accident. He has a black saddle and speed-enhancing white, black, red and yellow robotic boots. He has a pair of steel gauntlets to grant him some protection in hand-to-hand combat. Around his waist is a red utility belt with a large storage pouch on the left and a hostler on the right.
Interactions with other Characters
Plasshi
Plasshi is Coshi's wife, of whom he loves very much. Plasshi brought about a change in Coshi, where he was once rebellious and cold, he gradually became warmer and more caring. The two are both a couple and a team, and they both care for their daughter Sera.
Sera
Sera is Coshi's daughter, and he has been known to spoil her. It has had an effect on her personality, and she is gradually beginning to show his rebellious streak within her. Despite this Coshi loves and cares for her very much.
Sneezier
Coshi and Sneezier have served together for years in the Yoshi Bodyguards. He is put off by Sneezier, however, as he sees him as an odd and a bit of an eccentric madman. Still, Sneezier has built much of Coshi's weapon and armor, which he is grateful for.
Amphy and Christopher
Coshi dislikes Amphy and Christopher for their role in helping the X-Nauts capture Whirl. When they first met Coshi fought them in hand-to-hand combat and warded them off fairly easily. During the Dark Perforation Invasion of Star World Coshi met them again, and was forced to work with them. While they put aside their differences, Coshi still does not trust the duo.
Trivia
