Genocide was a DXX Pay-per-view, held in October 2008. It was one of the first PPV's in a long time to not feature both Massacre and Mayhem on the night, this was confirmed to be due to backstage problems with Massacre GM Chris Jericho as he was called away from his duties before he could book any matches. Genocide also saw the debut of new General Manager of Mayhem Lord Lucas Mitchell, who had taken over from Nabeel Nawaz after he quit quit earlier that month after a slump in ratings. Because of this Mitchell decided to host two No.1 Contenders Matches as Mayhem's main event in the hope of soon crowning a new DXX Universe Champion, and Rated's main event saw Johnny Relentless defending his DXX Rated Championship against Tristagi.
