Noshum is a character of Topmonhit's who has seemed to gain a bit of fame. One possible reason is he is a main character of The 1576 Kingdom Novel, but on the other hand, hardly anyone reads that. He is a Shadow Creature, the same as The Shadow Sirens, which earns him the mistrust of many, notably Subsourian. Despite this, he's often good-natured and friendly, and is also a strong fighter as well. He totally loves Vivian. Vivian's totally his wife.

Top Story Bio
Noshum originally was a high-ranked Shadow Creature who worked for the Shadow King. However when they got to Star World through a portal and found the Shadow Queen to have been defeated after she went there, the Shadow Creatures attacked the planet. Beldam, Marilyn and Doopliss told them of Vivian's betrayel, and Noshum went to find her. Because Vivian decided to go against the Shadow Queen and King, Noshum decided to help the YB, who were trying to defeat the Shadow King. So he told them how to get new Crystal Stars, which had been destroyed, and together they went to get new Crystal Stars and defeat the Shadow King. After that Noshum and Vivian left, but Noshum reappeared to help Koop when he was attacked by some wolves. He hasn't reappeared since. As for personality, he's a pretty likable guy for a Shadow Creature, but maybe that's just because the Shadow Creatures had been under the rule of the Shadow King for so long. He seems to have known Vivian for a long time, and from that it seems he loves her. Why else would he go against the Shadow King? What? The Shadow King was a jerk? Well, yeah... anyway, he's about the same height as Vivian and looks like a normal male Shadow Creature (whatever THAT looks like), and he has a top hat with an orange band on it. Like Vivian, his main element is fire.
History
Early Years
Essentially nothing is known about Noshum before the Shadow Dimension's invasion of Star World; mostly what's known is he was a scribe for the Shadow King and knew Vivian before the Shadow Queen had come to Star World. He had grown a love for her, actually, but she and her sisters, Beldam and Marilyn, left with the Shadow Queen when she left for Star World to take it over. For a thousand years, he wouldn't see her...
The Star World Invasion
A little over 1000 years after The Shadow Sirens and the Shadow Queen left, the barrier blocking Star World with the Shadow Dimension in Battleship Atlantis was broken, and two Shadow Creatures were sent out to locate the Shadow Sirens. Once they did, and they returned, the news that the Shadow Queen had been defeated and killed came to the Shadow King. Noshum noticed, however, that although Beldam, Marilyn, and a strange sheet-creature named Doopliss were there, Vivian was nowhere to be found; apparently, she had left and joined the hero who had defeated the Shadow Queen!
The Shadow Monarchy began attacking Star World, kidnapping Princess Peach and looking for Vivian, but Noshum managed to escape away and began to secretly follow a group that called themselves The Yoshi Bodyguards. Eventually they were able to locate Vivian, and Noshum revealed himself, surprising some of the YBs and making Koop jealous (who seemed to have been infatuated with Vivian), and began to ask Vivian why she seceded. After learning her reasons, Noshum decided to help the YBs.
Unfortunately, Atlantis began firing on them at that point, so the YBs got in their ships and began to fire back, eventually able to send it to the ground. They then ran in and made their way into the Shadow Dimension, where Noshum told them they could make new Crystal Stars. They hurried through the dimension, avoiding the Shadow Warriors, and eventually made it to the Cyrstal Shrine, where they obtained seven new Crystal Stars. With these, they rushed into Shadow Castle and defeated the Shadow King, freeing the Shadow Dimension from the Shadow Monarchy.
Settling Down
With the Shadow Dimension freed, Noshum and Vivian went to live together at Twilight Town, hoping for some peace. Noshum's peace would be temporarily interrupted, however, when he was traveling through a forest randomly and saw a pack of wolves attacking Koop. He went into the shadows, got closer, and attacked the wolves to drive them off, after which he brought Koop to the YB infirmery as soon as he could.
Other than that, there weren't many events Noshum was engaged in, simply living peacefully with Vivian. Holiday of 2008, however, Noshum gave Vivian a wedding ring and proposed to her.
Marriage
It took them about ten months, but they finally got the preparations for the marriage complete. They had invited many friends; those who came included the PMTTYD partners, Subsourian, Sneezier, Chibi, and Doopliss. Apparently Doopliss had seceded to the good side a while ago. They began the wedding, and everything went smoothly until it was interrupted by Beldam and Marilyn, who detonated a bomb, causing panic and chaos.
When things calmed down, the PMTTYD partners, including Vivian, were gone! Noshum suspected they had gone to the Palace of Shadow, so they hurried down and entered a portal leading to the Shadow Dimension. There, they learned Beldam, Marilyn and a group of Shadow Creatures had gone to the Crystal Star Shrine, so they went there, battling Frob and Bread during the process. When they arrived, they found a frail Shadow Creature named Ichy hypnotizing Vivian to marry a Shadow Creature named the Shadow Prince!
Noshum tried to stop it, but was too late, and the ceremony was successful, causing a Crystal Ztar to form! Before it could be used by anyone, Sub managed to shatter it with a spell, and all the Shadow Creatures escaped. They managed to get one shard of it, and used that to find another shard in the Shadow Field, where they had to fight against the Biiz. The next shard was up north in a snowy region.
Up north in the Crystal Palace (Shadow Dimension version), they found Beldam and Marilyn trying to kidnap the Ztar Spirit. After defeating them, they went west to find Koops; there, they found Frob and Bread again, but apparently they had been fired, so they joined up with them. They got separated on the mountain, and Noshum got sick; at the top, however, Doopliss found a jalapeño, which he gave Noshum, after which he quickly got over his cold somehow and they were able to defeat a giant penguin affected by the Crystal Ztar Shard and get the shard.
The next shard was found to be at an Eerie House, where they met a yoshi named Guilee who was controlled by shadow. After defeating him, the shadow temporarily lost control, and he asked them to get him some items that would allow him to be free of the shadow. They did, which freed him from the shadow, but caused the Eeries to attack; once they were defeated, they got another shard. They found the next to be located in the Shadow Forest, and there they saw Beldam and Marilyn again. Beldam called for the spirit of the forest, and Ichy appeared; apparently, however, he wasn't the spirit, the spirit was on vacation.
After chasing Beldam and Marilyn to a tower, Noshum found Vivian and the Shadow Prince; after an exchange of insults, the Shadow Prince left, leaving Beldam and Marilyn to take care of them. They were defeated, though, and Noshum untied Vivian; after an embrace, they got another shard and continued on to find another, located on Shadow Island. There, they were thrown into an insane reality show where Noshum, Sub and Frob were the only ones left until they decided to simply attack the host and take the shard. They learned the host was helping Beldam, and so the host, Forrest, summoned an ancient island spirit, but they defeated it and got the 6th shard.
There was only one shard they needed now, but they didn't know where to go until they saw Forrest in Shadow Town. The attacked him, and he revealed it was at the Shadow Castle MK Mark II or whatever. They hurried there, and saw the Shadow Prince; Noshum and he began to fight, which ended fairly easily and they got the final shard. Unfortunately, the Crystal Ztar was reformed and Vivian began to absorb its power! Beldam appeared, revealing that Vivian was still secretly hypnotized to absorb the completed Crystal Ztar, but Noshum tried to stop it, instead absorbing it with her and they merged together sort of; they now had a shadowy aura around them, and were connected at their shadow "tails".
Although Vivian was going to give Beldam the power, which was Beldam's plan all along, Noshum stopped her and the two of them went against Beldam, planning on bringing back the Shadow Monarchy themselves. This was really the Crystal Ztar making them do it, however; somewhere inside they still were conscious, though, and during the fight, they transferred their remaining power to Sub, allowing him to defeat them and stop the Crystal Ztar. Once they were free of its power, the Crystal Ztar was gone, and they left the Shadow Dimension; Beldam and Marilyn had disappeared.
Not long after these events, they had another wedding, only this time in Creepy Steeple. As soon as Noshum and Vivian were officially married, however, the bell rang, and the guests turned into pigs! They went up to the bell, only to find Beldam and Marilyn, and a fight occured. The fight destroyed the bell, and Beldam and Marilyn were defeated. Vivian tried to talk to Beldam, who finally revealed she was just a jealous old hag, which was why she had always been so mean to Vivian. Vivian forgave her, and Beldam promised to let the Shadow Monarchy end. Noshum reluctantly forgave her as well, and all was right with them. Ever since then, Noshum and Vivian have remained in Twilight Town, hoping for peace...
Magic Attacks
A little over a year later, Twilight Town was attacked by a magical humanoid being known as a morph. Noshum and Vivian, along with a traveler named Vaganot, fought it together, and were able to destroy it.
Non-Canon Appearances
The 1576 Kingdom Novel
When Noshum joined the 1576 Kingdom Novel, it was on Chapter 3, and Noshum joined around the same time as Bloo. The writer, Fireflower, got confused, however, and mixed the sides they were on, causing some confusion for a couple parts. For some reason, Noshum was inside of a tomb at Melee Arena and needed the Grand Star Pieces Team Awesome (Fungus, Gypsus, Pyro, Mack and Chibi) to survive. Mogmire was helping him, but was helping Bloo as a cover, but was secretly really helping Bloo. So it was confusing and whatnot, but after Mogmire got Team Awesome's pieces, he betrayed Noshum and left.
Noshum had enough energy to get out of the room he was in and get to Team Awesome, and he then joined them. He stayed with them for the rest of the novel, and is stated as being one of the more "normal" characters, despite being a freaky shadow thing. He also is one of the too-many-fire-based-characters. He's also one of the five-pillar heroes at the end, along with Fungus, Gypsus, Pyro and Weasel. Generally Topmonhit complains when he doesn't get many lines.
Personal Information
Personality
Overall, Noshum seems to be pretty mellow and whatnot. He wants to live a relaxing, peaceful life, but can let things get to him somewhat easily. He doesn't want anyone to distrust him because he's a Shadow Creature, and gets really annoyed when someone does. If danger does abound and is threatening his friends, he'll be quick to action. It's possible he's smarter than he seems, as he was originally a scribe for the Shadow King, but this is purely conjectural.
Appearance
Noshum is a purple shadow creature of medium size, with gloves, and somewhat messy blue hair that covers his eyes. He wears a tan top hat with an orange band around it.
Abilities
Noshum's main abilities revolve around fire and shadow-based attacks, moreso the former. He can also go into the shadows like other Shadow Creatures. Recently he's started using his hat as a firing weapon; he sends attacks into the hat, and they can shoot out with more power like a cannon. He also has various fire-based abilities that I don't feel like listing.
Final Smash: Fire Field
Noshum goes into the shadows, charges a bit, and then the ground he was on when he went into the shadows goes up in flames, which rise. Works best on the bottom of the area.
Family
Vivian
Vivian and Noshum were married in fall of 2008, and have been living happily since. They had actually known one another since before the events involving the Shadow Queen, but back then they had mostly playful love. Noshum would protect Vivian at all costs.
Interactions with Other Characters
Top Mon Hit

Noshum has a deal of respect for Top due to him being one of the seven to recieve a crystal star. He notes, however, that Top is a bit wacky, and wonders if there just wasn't very many people there.
Oshy Gisho

Noshum has a deal of respect for Oshy due to him being one of the seven to recieve a crystal star. Unlike Top, Oshy doesn't make Noshum wonder if it was because there weren't very many people there.
Sneen

Noshum has a deal of respect for Sneen due to him being one of the seven to recieve a crystal star. It's multiplied a little, however, because the shrine actually went out and found him instead of taking one that was already there.
Bloo

Although Noshum hasn't really met Bloo in canon, in the 1576 Kingdom Novel, Bloo is the leader of the sort of rival team of Team Awesome. Noshum seems to find Bloo and his team just as annoying as the other members of Team Awesome.
Chibi

Noshum thinks it's kind of weird for Chibi to like Doopliss, but has never said anything about it. He tries to stay away from her violent side, but knows it can be used well in battle... if she can control it.
Frob and Bread

At first, Noshum was enemies with them, due to them working for Beldam and Marilyn, but after they were fired, they joined up with Noshum and the other heroes, so they're on good terms now.
Fungus
Fungus is the leader of Team Awesome of the 1576 Kingdom Novel, so Noshum has to be able to stand him a little bit. They've never met in canon, but in in the novel, there seems to be some animosity between the two, with insults coming up every so often. However, this seems to be the case with every member of Team Awesome, so it may just be that they're a dysfunctional family of heroes. Despite this, they do get along, and probably agree that Pyro's an idiot.
Gypsus
Like Fungus, Noshum has only met Gypsus in the 1576 Kingdom Novel, which is non-canon. It's possible they're on a bit better terms than the others, due to them both being ancient and magic-using, but there's not much hard evidence. However, they did travel in a computerized message as some sort of attachment or something in the beginning of the second book. Noshum's voice didn't make people smart, though.
Koop
At first, it seemed like Koop and Noshum would be rivals for Vivian's love, as Koop was in love the moment he saw Vivian. He was angered when she left, but was soon after over it. Noshum later saved Koop from a group of wolves, however, so it's assumed they're on good terms.
Mogmire

Noshum and Mogmire originally were working together in the 1576 Kingdom Novel, but later it was revealed that was a huge mistake and that in reality Mogmire was helping Bloo. When Mogmire left Noshum for death, he got angry and joined Team Awesome. He probably dislikes Mogmire a bit more than the other Team Blooians.

Noshum has a deal of respect for Pichup due to him being one of the seven to recieve a crystal star.
Pyro

Noshum's main interaction with Pyro has been in the 1576 Kingdom Novel, which, again, is non-canon. Here, Noshum, as well as just about everyone else, can hardly stand Pyro.
Sneezier

Noshum has a deal of respect for Sneezier due to him being one of the seven to recieve a crystal star. He has begun to think, however, that respect may be a bit misleading after getting to know Sneezier a little better.
Subsourian the Dark

Although Noshum never had any ill will towards Sub, the exact opposite was true for Sub; due to this, Noshum was often uncomfortable traveling with him. This once escalated to a long argument, but after some time, Sub began to be on better terms with Noshum.
Shadow Prince
(NOTE: Topmonhit Story-version, not 1576 Kingdom Novel-version)
Noshum has a great deal of detesting for the Shadow Prince, seeing him as pompous, annoying, and he kept calling Noshum names and saying Vivian was his princess. Overall, Noshum would be fine with never seeing Shadow Prince again anywhere forever. He just plain hates him.
Trivia
- Noshum's name was originally Shonum, which lasted for a few minutes until Topmonhit changed it to Noshum.
- For Halloween 2008, Noshum went as Count Bleck. It was Topmonhit's favorite costume.
- He's one of the few characters to pair up with an official character.
- Although Noshum and Sub have had some animosity between one another, in The 1576 Kingdom, when Sub met Team Awesome (and subsequently the Noshum of The 1576 Kingdom), he said nothing of it. This is likely due to the lack of time and importance of such a speech, however. That, and FF being told nothing about it.
