Unity of the Shadows is the 10th story of Topmonhit Story, in which Noshum and Vivian are married. It is unique in that it takes place at the exact same time as the previous story, atlhough the two have nothing to do with one another.

Story

Chapter 1: The Shadow Wedding

Part 10-1: It Seems Someone Insta—SOMEBODY SET UP US THE BOMB

After an exposition of events prior, the day of the wedding between Noshum and Vivian began. Team TOT was invited, but were unable to attend due to Pokemon Platinum 3: Time, Space and Darkness, so instead the PMTTYD partners, Doopliss, Chibi, Sub and Sneezier were there. Once the wedding began, everything went smoothly until it neared the end when Beldam and Marilyn interrupted it with a bomb, which exploded and caused chaos.

Part 10-2: Enter the Shadow

When the chaos subsided, the wedding was ruined, and Noshum realized Vivian was gone! The other PMTTYD partners were missing as well, and Noshum fired they brought them through Palace of Shadow, due to it being the only way to the Shadow Dimension as of then. Thus they headed there and began to go through the palace, fighting against random creatures such as Yo-Yo Chomps. At the end, they found a portal, which they went inside to the Shadow Dimension.

Part 10-3: “We could’ve started an angry mob!”

When they arrived in the Shadow Dimension, they went to Shadow Town to try and see if anyone had seen Beldam. One Shadow Creature did, and said she was going to the Crystal Shrine, so the group hurried there. Just before they got to it, however, they were attacked by Frob and Bread, who were working for the Shadow Sirens, and began to fight. Meanwhile, in the Crystal Shrine, Vivian was being held against her will as Beldam prepared to begin her plan. In the Guardian Room, the heroes fought against Frob and Bread, defeating them, and then made their way into the shrine.

Part 10-4: The Shadow Wedding

When they smashed down the door to the Crystal Shrine and got in, they found what looked like some sort of wedding; Vivian was on one side, and a Shadow Creature similar to Prince Peasley, Shadow Prince. Also near Vivian was a Shadow Creature with messy, white hair, Ichy, who was apparently hypnotizing Vivian to say "I do". They tried to stop it, but were too late and a burst of dark energy appeared, creating the Crystal Ztar. Beldam was about to take it when Chibi tried to attack her, and then Sub used a small Erishkigal to blow the Crystal Ztar to pieces. The shards magically flew away.

Beldam, Marilyn, and all the other Shadow Creatures then escaped, taking Vivian with them. Sneezier complained about the seven-piece hunt when Sub revealed he had managed to get one, but Noshum said that it was filled with evil energy, not just dark. Thus, they decided to find the other pieces and prevent them from being put together. Sub used the shard to locate the next shard, though, which was at Shadow Fields, so they hurried off to find it.

Chapter 2: Flowers in the Dark Fields

Part 10-5: Flower Power

Once they arrived in the Shadow Fields, they had a botany lesson and then the Shadow Prince appeared. He formally introduced himself, and then Noshum went into a rage when he called Vivian his Shadow Princess. The two Shadow Creatures with him brought forth the Moonflower, a carnivorous plant, which attacked them. During the fight, it ate Chibi, but then Chibi blasted it from the inside as a Bob-ulk. They then continued to find the next shard.

Part 10-6: B-Part

They found a massive beehive, or, biihive, hive of the biiz according to Noshum. The shard was in there, so they headed in, but found the Queen Bii had declared no outsiders shall ever come inside. Doopliss tried to trick them as another warrior bii, but because their shift wasn't over for two hours, they waited until tomorrow since it was late as it was. The next day Chibi and Doopliss tried to sneak in, but they made a slip up, revealing themselves, so Sub simply hit them with Flame Wall and then hurried in.

As soon as they entered the hive, more warrior biiz began to come after them, so Doopliss poofed into a bubble plant to put them all in bubbles and get over the honey pools. It didn't seem to help much, as the biiz fired stingers at them, but then Sneezier told everyone to blow into the mic and they were magically pushed through the honey, eventually reaching the basement of the hive where they found a single bii. This bii was named birt and found out from him the queen recently got a shard and started becoming like a tyrant. All the biiz work for her without question, except Birt, who is one of the few who thinks for himself. They decided they had to get to the queen and get the shard away from her.

Part 10-7: 1576 Combat is Dumb

Doopliss and Chibi became warrior biiz again while Sub used Sprocyst on himself, Noshum and Sneezier to make them mushrooms. When they tried to get into the queen's chambers, however, they weren't allowed in until Doopliss called one of the biiz "Zlick" causing it to believe Doopliss was someone named "Dooplizz" that he knew and owed a favor, so Zlick let them through.

When they got into the chambers, they found Goombella was stuck in honey there. They tried to get the queen to get rid of the shard, but she refused, and said they were "conzpiratorz". The battle started out badly, with Noshum, Sub and Sneezier still mushrooms, but after they poofed back into themselves... things still weren't going well. They were going to go for a Team Attack, but were attacked before they could start discussing it. Topmonhit said he'd copy Wary instead, then Sneezier, which made the characters yell at him.

They were attacked again, and then they started arguing which caused Noshum to blast fire all around, knocking them away, to calm them down. The battle continued on, but they still did horribly, getting stuck in honey, but finally Birt pulled the shard off her head. With that, she was free, and gave the heroes the shard so it wouldn't control her anymore.

Chapter 3: A Shadowy Chill

Part 10-8: I Should Go To Bed Now.

Just then, Sneezier asked Goombella that Beldam had kidnapped her. Goombella said that she, Koops and Gonzales Jr. had managed to escape. They then found the next shard to be located up north in a snowy region, so they headed north. Noshum explained along the ways that when Stars die they become Shadow Stars at the Shadow Dimension, and vice-versa.

When they arrived, they found the Shadow Stars didn't know of any shard, but then they heard some yelling from the Crystal Palace. Inside, Beldam and Marilyn were trying to kidnap the Elder Shadow Star, Fezzar, but when the heroes burst in, they battled. In the end, Chibi turned into a giant robot of destruction and crushed them; Beldam and Marilyn then escaped through the shadows, saying Koops had escaped to the west, where a horrid beast lived.

Part 10-9: Passing Payments & Penguin Power!

Fezzar explained that a horrid beast was said to live west on Mt. Penguin... though that was it. Fezzar kept saying it was true, but they didn't really believe him since that was all that was said about it. Meanwhile, to the west, Beldam fired Frob and Bread because "they were ugly, and she didn't like them" though really it was only so she wouldn't have to pay them.

Not far away were the heroes, who came across Frob and Bread and let them join them. Once they arrived at the base of Mt. Penguin, they saw no "horrid beast" until Sub sensed the shard nearby, and turned to see Pengzilla, a giant, monstrous penguin. They prepared to fight it when it blasted them with a gust of ice breath, blowing them away onto the mountain and ending the battle.

Part 10-10: The Split-Up

The two groups were now separated, with Sneezier, Sub, Chibi and Bread inside the mountain. They were about to go find their way out when a large creature obscured by shadow appeared to them. Meanwhile, outside the mountain, Frob, Doopliss, Noshum and Goombella were stuck. Noshum began to get sick, and was unable to use his fire powers. However, soon Pengzilla began to climb up the mountain. Inside the cave, the creature introduced himself as the Abominable Snowman, or Snowy. Unfortunately, it turned out there had been an avalanche and they were stuck in the cave.

Meanwhile, outside the cave, the group was climbing the mountain to get away from Pengzilla when Doopliss poofed into the Ice Climbers Condor and he and Noshum flew to the top as Pengzilla got closer. In the cave, Sub used Flame Wall to melt the snow so they could get through, and Snowy asked Sub if he could use it on a guy he found--Koops, who was frozen in an ice block. Just before Sub could use Flame Wall, however, Pengzilla appeared outside the cave and roared at them. It started trying to get into the cave; outside, Goombella saw it was stopping but began to lose her balance and fall, so Frob went after her. On top of the mountain, Doopliss found what appeared to be a plant and started pulling it.

Part 10-11: PETA’s Gonna Kill Me

Goombella fell onto Pengzilla's head, and it tried to slap her with one of its wings; Frob stabbed it with his lance and he and Goombella got into the cave. They then prepared to fight Pengzilla. Though the weak spot was its head, it was still 70 feet tall and hard to fight, but during the fight a blast hit its head from out of nowhere; earlier, on the mountaintop, Doopliss found a jalapeño in the ground somehow. He gave it to Noshum, who caught on fire and was magically all better.

Another blast hit Pengzilla, causing it to lose its grip and fall off the mountain. Doopliss and Noshum came down, and then they all went down to find Pengzilla. At the base was a penguin, the shard, and Koops. They helped Koops out of the snow and took the shard, then went back to the town. Immediately the shadow stars threw snowballs at Snowy and Fezzar began to panic, but they told them Snowy wasn't a horrid beast, just ugly. They stopped, and found the next shard was at an Eerie House east of there.

Chapter 4: An Eerie Presence

Part 10-12: PB Won’t Like This Part!

When the group headed east, they eventually left the snowytimes of before and got to the Eerie House. When they entered, however, they found a group of Eeries carrying an unconscious Gonzales Jr. away. The back of the house had a bunch of Eeries and a shadow yoshi named Guilee on a throne, and Guilee revealed he had a Ztar Shard. The heroes said they needed it, but Guilee refused and they fought. In the end, Guilee was defeated, but then got back up and revealed he had been controlled by the shadow and needed an antidote for it. If they gave him the stuff, they'd get the shard and Gonzales Jr.

Part 10-13: Not This Again!

Yes, this was another rhyming part. The heroes went around, collecting a yellow potion, bii honey, and pure snow. They then went back to the Eerie House to give it to Guilee.

Part 10-14: They Don’t Have A Freakin’ Gypsy Toad To Heal Them

When the heroes arrived, they had Guilee release Gonzales Jr. first, then they gave him the potion; Guilee drank it, and became a normal purple yoshi. Unfortunately, this caused the Eeries to get angry and form Mega Eerie, which then attacked them. During the fight, however, they were hardly able to put a dent into it until Guilee reappeared, saying he found a starman. Despite it being extremely implausible, Noshum took it and defeated Mega Eerie with it. Gonzales Jr. woke up, and they got the shard; they brought Guilee to Shadow Town, and found the next shard was in Shadow Forest.

Chapter 5: Encountering Shadow

Part 10-15: The Character Conundrum

As the group traveled through Shadow Forest, they started to get lost when something whizzed by them, soon found out to be an orange hedgehog named Tonic (in a reference to Weasel from the 1576 Kingdom Novel). However, Topmonhit soon blew it up and instead gave them a Mewtwo ripoff named Sewmod. It had no memory, though, so when Doopliss called it Slick it thought that was its name. It did know its abilities, however, and said it could teleport them to wherever they were going. Sub said he could too, and they realized they should just do that.

Unfortunately, this got them lost; the blame was pinned on Sewmod who Chibi hammered away and stopped being a character. This solved nothing, as Sub and Noshum started arguing about things which nearly escalated into a fight when Beldam and Marilyn appeared. Beldam then said she was going to summon the spirit of the forest.

Part 10-16: Um… Iono.

Time passed and no spirit ever arrived until suddenly some shadow appeared... it was Ichy. Ichy said the spirit was on vacation on an island at sea, and asked him to look after the forest while he was gone. Beldam told him to attack the group, but Ichy said he'd rather have a quiz show. He was then attacked by the group and fainted, and Beldam and Marilyn escaped. They continued on, but only got more and more lost until suddenly there was a blast that hit them, knocking them out.

When they woke up, they were in a background of wavy colors. They broke down a nearby door and found themselves in a Mario Bros. stage. It began to flood and Chibi attacked the pipe, causing it to spurt glue out instead. Sneezier hit the POW Block with his wrenchblade, causing the ground to split and they all fell into a quiz show hosted by Ichy.

After most of his questions were a flop, though he still counted it against them, the heroes began to say random truths which were counted as a point. Though they won the quiz show, Ichy revealed it was a dream; he had put them asleep, and him telling them it was a dream allowed them to wake up. Noshum hit Ichy with a fireball, defeating him, and saw the graveyard nearby.

Part 10-17: Great. He’s Back.

In the graveyard, they found a graveyard that said Crystal Ztar, but Beldam and Marilyn came out with the shard and escaped into a nearby tower. Some Dry Bones appeared to attack them, but Sub used Flame Wall and they went into the tower. There was no apparent way out of the room, but Noshum went to the other side of the wall and cranked it up with a crank; they then headed up a very long flight of stairs.

At the top, Vivian was tied up and in a cage; nearby was Shadow Prince, and Beldam and Marilyn were also in the room with the shard. Vivian was telling Shadow Prince to get away from her when the heroes came up, exhausted from the stairs. Shadow Prince left for a manicure and Beldam and Marilyn fought them, but during the fight they were blasted by a bunch of spheres and defeated.

Just then Sewmod returned, only now wearing a stupid cape. It wanted revenge for how it was treated, and a fight began; Chibi tried to do a Team Attack, but got sidetracked when she had Doopliss, as a Tox Box, squish Sneezier, and Sewmod blasted them into the wall.

Part 10-18: Doopliss Tries to Shine

The group had a lot of trouble fighting Sewmod, especially Chibi, whom Sewmod especially disliked. Doopliss tried to poof into Sewmod to defeat it, but even then, Sewmod used Disable to stop him. A Smash Ball appeared, however, and Gonzales Jr. got it, after which he ate Sewmod into a giant egg and threw it, which exploded, defeating it. Meanwhile, Noshum had been untying Vivian, but having trouble, so he just used a small flame to burn the ropes. They embraced and took the next shard, and found the next shard was at Shadow Island. They returned to Shadow Town to find a ship.

Chapter 6: The Reality Shadow

Part 10-19: BUY AUNT MARMALADE’S TOASTERWAVABLE PANCAKE MIX!

After a commercial for Aunt Marmalade's Toasterwavable Pancake Mix, they signed on to a boat that a green-haired Shadow Creature let them on, but they had to sign some forms first, and Sub was suspicious. Either way, they went to the island, where they found huts that were built for any travelers who come there. They split into groups, and Doopliss managed to get away from Chibi by sharing a hut with Noshum. However, later that night, Forrest was speaking to someone on the phone, saying he already found something and that the humilation starts tomorrow.

Part 10-20: LOGICALLY MY RATINGS WILL INCREASE NOW!

At 6 AM, the loudspeaker roared that it was time to get up. Everyone got up, some groggier than others, except Chibi. Seeing she wasn't up, Forrest went in and threw her out the window. He then revealed that it was The Reality Shadow, a new reality show. The grand prize was the shard they were looking for, so they agreed... except Chibi said she'd do it in the afternoon and went back to bed. This disqualified her.

Forrest first told Bread to eat a bucket of worms; she ran out of time, having about 2 seconds, and was eliminated. He then told Vivian to put out a fire without water, but she failed; he told Goombella to carry a bucket of water to the fire, but without arms, she failed. Sneezier's grammaritis got in the way of his challenge, and although Doopliss sort of did his challenge, which was kiss Chibi (Chibi ran out and gave Doopliss a big kiss), Forrest said that Chibi had kissed Doopliss, which meant he was eliminated.

Gonzales Jr.'s challenge was to put on a pink dress, which he refused to do, and Koops couldn't take the pressure and hid in his shell. This only left Noshum, Sub and Frob, so they simply attacked Forrest and tried to take the shard. Forrest accidently revealed he was working for Beldam, so he just went with plan B and the island began shaking.

Part 10-21: Guess What Time It Is, Kids?

This part was an RP Battle between the spirit of Shadow Island. The group fought against the ghostly bones, and eventually defeated it, destroying the director's hut and freeing Admiral Bobbery. The next location, a Purple Castle, was located, but Noshum wasn't sure what it was.

Chapter 7: A Prince and a Princess

Part 10-22: The Prince & the… Popcorn? (or) The Shadows Unite (Big(lia) Part)

At Shadow Town, they saw Forrest and attacked him, getting him to reveal the last shard was at a castle south of there. They went south to the castle and Ms. Mowz suddenly jumped out a window. She had escaped, but there were strong guards inside. Inside, two Shadow Creatures were fumbling with the keys; when they finally got the door opened, they were smacked by a Diamond Saw and the group went inside. Ms. Mowz said the fellow with shiny hair was on the second floor, so they went up and encountered Shadow Prince.

Shadow Prince and Noshum began to fight, and Shadow Prince was defeated fairly simply. The final shard appeared, and the chapter ended... not! Suddenly the shards merged together and Vivian grabbed it. Beldam and Marilyn appeared, and Beldam revealed this was her plan; Vivian had been hypnotized the entire time to take the complete Crystal Ztar and absorb its power, then transfer it to Beldam, but the plan was interrupted when Noshum tried to stop it; instead, Vivian and Noshum absorbed it together and became evil and now were connected by the end of their tails.

Beldam tried to get Vivian to transfer the power to her, but Noshum stopped her and the two of them blasted Beldam with fire. They planned to bring the Shadow Monarchy back, but had to fight the heroes first. They seemed to be winning after a while, but the heroes kept trying; meanwhile, at an unknown place, Vivian and Noshum remained, trapped in their bodies by the Crystal Ztar. They started to focus and used what little power they had to power up Sub to where he was able to use Erishkigal with only a little effort; Noshum and Vivian were defeated, but not really, as they got up soon after. The Crystal Ztar was destroyed, but Beldam and Marilyn escaped. They hoped they wouldn't try anything else, and they left the castle, leaving Shadow Prince unconscious...

Part 10-23: Piggy Bells!

Noshum and Vivian once again had their wedding, this time in Creepy Steeple. As soon as the ceremony finished and Noshum and Vivian kissed, the steeple bells rang, turning most of the guests into pigs. They hurried to the bell, where they found Beldam and Marilyn, and Beldam wanted to ruin Vivian's life for ruining her plans. Vivian said if she was still helping Beldam her life would be ruined, and they were sucked into the bell for a final fight.

The fight was even simpler than the Shadow Prince fight, and Beldam admitted that she was foolish old hag. She admitted that all the times she insulted and punished Vivian, she was only jealous; Vivian was destined to be the heir to the Shadow Monarchy, while Beldam was destined to be nothing. After a tender moment--and Doopliss' gagging noises--Noshum reluctantly agreed to accept Beldam, and the Shadow Sirens were no more. In the end, Vivian tossed the boquet, which was caught by Chibi. Teehee.

Meanwhile, in the Shadow Dimension, Shadow Prince vowed his revenge... but then was revealed to have become a janitor at someplace, cleaning a public restroom.

Trivia

  • The story as an abnormally large amount of references to The 1576 Kingdom Novel; the fact that Noshum is a main character in that may have somethin to do with it.
  • Pokemon Platinum 3: Time, Space and Darkness was (mostly) going on at the same time as this story; ironically, the end of that story featured a collab with The 1576 Kingdom Novel, which meant Noshum appeared in both stories.
  • The story Ichy accidently took question 1 from was Grodus Rising. The correct answer to his question was Teen Angst.
  • The ending of the story, where Beldam and Marilyn renounce their evil ways, was never planned until that very part was being made.
  • Ichy's quiz questions were as follows:
    • What is the name of the block that appeared in Chapter 1-3?
      Although the question was nulled due to being from the wrong story, the correct answer was Teen Angst.
    • If you have 4 quarters, how many dollars do you have?
      Although Sneezier guessed one, Ichy said the answer was zero; instead, you have four quarters and no dollars.
    • Instead of a question three, Doopliss just said the quiz was stupid, and Ichy said that was wrong.
    • If a tree falls in a forest, and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
      The answer was yes, as trees in a forest are connected by their roots.
    • Question five! What number questi—er, uh, I mean… uh… WHAT IS LOVE?!
      The answer is unknown.

      What is the name of the block that appeared in Chapter 1-3?
  • Part 10-1: It Seems Someone Insta—SOMEBODY SET UP US THE BOMB is a reference to Zero Wing and All Your Base is Belong to Us.
  • Part 10-14: They Don’t Have A Freakin’ Gypsy Toad To Heal Them is a reference to Gypsus from The 1576 Kingdom Novel.
  • Part 10-19: BUY AUNT MARMALADE’S TOASTERWAVABLE PANCAKE MIX! and the commercial in said part is a reference to how Pillsbury Toaster Strudels claim they're better than Pop-Tarts.
