Contents

Anime

Fruits Basket

  • The name of Adrian Breton's dog, Shigure, is a reference to his PB - The character Shigure turns into a dog when hugged.

Books

Twelve

  • Christian Keyes is based off the main character of the novel, White Mike.

Idlewild

  • Phantasia Hall's names are both taken from the novel, and was originally planned to be based on Fantasia.

House of Leaves

  • There are many scattered references to the novel across the game.

Star Wars Expanded Universe

  • Jason's third cat, Asyr, is named after the character Asyr Sei'lar, a Bothan pilot from the X-Wing series of novels by Michael A. Stackpole.

His Dark Materials

  • Lyra and her power are based on that of one of the main characters. When she was first being planned, an alternate power would have been to know the truth of any situation.
  • Will, Ris' unborn son, was named after and roughly based on the other main character.
  • A variation of the subtle knife has been used as a basis for the New York City's holy weapon.

Comics

Marvel Universe

  • Jason's second cat, Jubilee, is named after one of the X-Men.

Internet

4chan

  • Jason's fourth cat, Fgsfds, takes her name from a 4chan meme.

Cat Town

  • Jason's first cat, El Guapo, is named after one of the main characters from the website Cat Town.

The Hollow

  • Ris, Skye, December, and April are all based on characters from Spork's original fiction journal. How much they resemble their original selves is all up for debate.

Movies

All I Wanna Do

  • "Tinka" is actually the name of a character who falls in love with a boy named Snake who photographs roadkill for fun. The last name "von Stefan" belongs to another character named Verena, which eventually became the name of Tinka's older sister.

Peter Pan

  • Tinka's full name is "Tinka Belle von Stefan". "Tinka Belle" = Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. Yes, her mom is a sadist.

Music

  • Tinka's guardian Michael was named thanks to a Franz Ferdinand song.

Television

Law and Order

  • Alan only exists because his mun watches way too much of it, and he probably would've been an NYC character if she didn't have two there already.

Pythagoras Switch

  • Jason's Rube Goldberg machine was inspired after Iris and Crys watched an episode of this show, which includes many sequences of such machines. They're still looking for an excuse to reference the Algorithm March.

SPACE: Above and Beyond

  • Montague Damphousse's last name is taken from Lt. Vanessa Damphousse who was a bad ass and Mo figured she needed to be recognized as such.

Video Games

Phoenix Wright

  • Yamashita Takahiro and Nakamura Ryouta are both based on and PBed by characters in the game - specifically, Miles Edgeworth and Phoenix Wright. Their companies (Edgesoft and Phoenix Games) are also references to this.

Other References

Real Life

  • Addison's loft apartment is located above a restaurant in Greenwich Village/Soho called "Wok 'n' Roll". This restaurant actually exists and there actually are loft apartments above it.

Typos

  • Padua and April Holloway's parents, Sligh and Machera, are typos from a terrible and hilarious application Spork and Mo got while moderating another RP.
