Incredibly illegitimate child of Mat. Lrya has just turned eleven years old, and thanks to the circumstances of her birth, had far from a stable childhood. She barely knew her mother, the woman giving her up soon after she was born, so from time to time she would travel around Europe/Asia with Mat. When not with him, she would stay with a nanny, or anywhere else he could place her for awhile, mostly in Beijing, and for a long while, in Japan. [She's got a decent understanding of Chinese, and a very good handle on Japanese for her age. The kid likes languages and dialects.] She's only recently moved back to London after receiving word of her father's death, and hey, wants revenge 8) Beware, Oliver, scary little girls are after you. [She doesn't particularly care that her father never actually acknowledged her as his daughter, as she was still oddly attached to him.]

Very much so like her father. She's very stubborn, and a total liar. Complete, total, liar. Also on the half-wild side, as her nannies didn't really "raise" her, more like made sure she didn't hurt herself too badly and fed and clothed her.

So she's got this little familiar type thing that's essentially an extension of her soul that can take on any animal shape he wants, according to how Lyra herself is feeling. When she hits puberty, Hitani will settle on one shape.
