Mat died in his attempt to bring down Westminster Abbey. He fought with Oliver and was disembowled, but not before stabbing him in the foot.

1. Despite the fact he referred to her as a nuisance, and that he murdered her for the sake of a failed alchemy experiment, Mat was slightly attached to Sophie, and occasionally misses her presence around his house. It's really empty now that it's only him again.
2. For most of Stephen’s duration in France, Mat was traveling across the rest of Europe, making it as far as China before his interest in travel waned. After an extremely short trip to Japan around the time he turned twenty-four, he sporadically switched between his home in London to one he still owns in Beijing. He rarely visits it anymore.
3. Every time he stopped in France, which are more than he cares to count, he always told himself he would visit his brother, but never “got around to it.” He’s not sure if he regrets this or not.
4. He hates children with a passion. If asked why, he’ll blame Stephen.
5. The sword he uses to draw out the alchemy circles was something he picked up on a very brief trip to Japan, though he rarely brings up the fact he’s ever been there. If asked of its origin, he’ll smile and avoid the question.
6. Mat’s always had a bad case of hat hair, before he even started wearing the thing.
7. He never thought of himself as particularly “smart,”, despite the fact his house is littered with books and he enjoys learning anything and everything. (He has a soft spot for knowledge.)
8. He’s never had any horrible experience with love, but they were never fantastic, either.
9. He can speak and read Klingon.
10. And gets mad when Stephen teases him about it.
11. He used to wear glasses as a teenager, and wore his hair a little shorter to try and hide how messy it was. After his trip to Japan, however, he let it grow and stopped wearing the glasses. He claimed he didn’t need them anymore.
12. He looks dead when he sleeps.
13. The first pet he ever had was a mutt that he’s long forgotten the name of. After he grew confident with powers, he tried to bring it back to life.
14. He sometimes wonders if the nightmares he had back then are worse than the dreams Stephen has now.
15. Mat might not have ever blown up Buckingham Palace if he’d known his parents were there. He looks at it as a mistake on his part, and mistakes make him ill.
16. He doesn’t regret killing everyone else, though.
17. He doesn’t look forward to dying, but knows that what he’s done doesn’t leave him much choice, and that where he continues to take himself doesn’t help the matter.
18. He thinks Stephen needs a good kicking, though he can’t decide why. He’ll figure it out later.
19. None of the other Angels particularly interest him. Neither do the Seals.
20. His eyes are black.
