DISCLAIMER or something we need one of those fancy box things: This article is about events that took place at Tick Tack Dude. Therefore, some information may be incorrect.
The Shadows, the Prankster, and the Hat was a short Yoshi Bodyguards story by Topmonhit. Although it was short, it was somewhat important in the Shadow Sirens series of stories.
Characters (possibly incomplete): Various YB Members (including, but not limited to, Top Mon Hit, Oshy Gisho, Subsourian, Scorch, Topper Mon Hit, Sneen, Chibi), Kreafty, Yoshi, Beldam, Marilyn, Doopliss, The Parrot
Locations (Possibly Incomplete): Star World, Yoshi Bodyguards HQ, Rogueport, Rogueport Sewers, Shroom Grocery, Creepy Steeple
Time Period: Early May 2007
Story
It began with the news that Yoshi was kidnapped. Oh, great. The YB headed to the Green House, and learned that there were absolutely no clues--one minute he was there, the next, he was gone! They did find a note, however, that said to go to Rogueport Sewers, and to make sure they bring Chibi. Weird. So, the YB headed to Rogueport Sewers and ended up getting caught by Beldam, Marilyn and Doopliss!
Beldam revealed that she planned to sacrifice them to ressurect the Shadow Queen, then use Chibi as a new body for her. While Beldam and Marilyn got things ready, Doopliss stood guard; during that time, Top began to sing a song which ended in Doopliss realizing there was no reason for him to be helping Beldam, and he defected to the good side. Beldam was outraged, and she and Marilyn began to fight the YB. In the end, they were defeated.
Although they were defeated and Yoshi was saved, they weren't done yet. Doopliss said that since he helped them, he wanted something from them--his hat back. Apparently the hat Chibi had stolen was given to him by his best friend, so he gave Chibi his millions of extra hats and got his favorite back. He and the YB then went to the grocery store and bought a package of crackers that they went to give the parrot of Creepy Steeple; Doopliss apologized for what he did, and they became friends again.

- The song that Top sings is entitled "Which Side Are You On?"
Connections to Other Stories
- Beldam, Marilyn and Doopliss first returned to villainy in The Shadows Cometh (Or Something Lousy Like That).
- After this story, Doopliss became a permanent good guy; he would have a starring role in Unity of the Shadows.
- Unity of the Shadows seems to continue the story involving Beldam and Marilyn as their final attempt to bring the Shadow Monarchy back; after that, they renounce their evil ways.
