Dragons

From Slinkiwiki

"Excuse me? 'Forward, march?' Did you not see that GREAT FLAPPING LIZARD ahead of us?"
- Oscar Wilde on Dragons

In general, dragons play at least some part in any given story found detailed on this site. The reason why is simple: Dragons are cool. To some, they're seen as simply impressive creatures that are tough and can fly along with the odd special ability/breath weapon. To others, they're creatures that are inherently magical, and their powers go beyond the normal. To yet further, they're gigantic phallic symbols.

We generally dislike the third type, but in a Freudian viewpoint, it's unavoidable.
We also generally dislike Freud.

Dragons In...

Hero of Ralier

While not actually starring dragons, the titular race of Ralier are defined as dragon-like, and definitely fit the bill as dragonoids. Tiny engines of destruction though they may be, however, they definitely are categorized as Type 1: Tough, but still normal creatures.

Beyond Lunch

Originally, the main character eventually got hold of a special ability to turn into a Type 2 dragon: Beyond the normal in terms of capabilities, either physical or magical. The idea was scrapped in time, and the remaining dragons in the game are Type 1. Spoiler: Eventually, one of the main characters gets a dragon for a pet, as well.

DTmIRC

This is where things get a little weird. Given that the characters are representations of the avatars of other folks who each had their own ideas of what dragons are. Type 1 and Type 2 are each represented here. I'm not saying that Type 3 was not, I'm just saying that someone who's a bit spiritual would get fairly annoyed if I said that it was. It totally was, though.

This representation holds true for CHIBI as well, for similar reasons. Or, well, the exact same reasons.

The Warren

In the original Quasi-Canon Arc, it's another mix of Types 1 and 2. More of Type 2 than Type 1, excluding one particularly nightmare-induced opening gambit. Even there, it's an odd mix of both. Anyways.

After the show becomes the Myriad Lands, dragons switch entirely to Type 2. Though Lizardfolk can be seen in the Animal Kingdom, true dragons are said to only be found far further east than even there, nearly as deep into the Mad Lands as one can possibly go. Indeed, two groups base their religions around dragons that they hold to be gods. The facts run stranger, though...
