KTBU-TV (known on-air as Houston's RTN 55) is the only owned and operated by Taylor Media Stations Group as a Live Network TV affiliate. It is located in the Greater Houston area broadcasting on one of two channels assigned to Conroe, Texas, the other being KPXB.
The station signed on in 1998 and was originally owned by the Osteen Family of Lakewood Church. The station aired limited religious programming despite this previous ownership.
KTBU-TV airs religious, general entertainment, and children's programming. Despite being Taylor Media's only O&O, they only air a select number of children's programs provided by FUNi Plus. Since 2007 they are the official channel of the Houston Dynamo. In June 2008, the Houston Cougars football team announced a deal with ISP Sports to exclusively broadcast Cougar Gameday on KTBU.[1]
In Early April of 2009, KTBU announced that they are switching to Live Network TV while RTN moves to KNWS on digital subchannel 51.2.
In October 2009, Taylor Media announced that they will regain its RTV affiliation, thus moving the Live Network TV affiliation to KHOU-DT 11.2 and Anime National from KNWS to KJIB-LP.[2]
