WCTI-TV Channel 12 is an ABC affiliate serving the Greenville/Washington/New Bern, North Carolina television market. The station signed on as WNBE-TV in September 1963, after a lengthy battle with the FCC over channel allocation and the location of their transmitter tower.

In 1980, WCTI erected a 2,000 foot tower located near Trenton, North Carolina to allow greater coverage throughout Eastern North Carolina, including the Outer Banks.

[edit] ENC-Anime

In addition to ABC, WCTI also carries ENC-Anime, programming on digital subchannel 12.2. ENC-Anime airs first-run Anime programming, as well as local news and sports. Prior to September 18, 2006, the subchannel was UPN-48, broadcasting programming from the defunct UPN.

On January 24, 2006, it was announced that UPN and The WB will merge into a new network called The CW on September 4, 2006. Recently it was announced that WNCT-TV will carry The CW on one of its digital subchannels. On February 22, 2006, News Corporation announced it was starting up another new network called My Network TV. It seemed likely that either 48.2 or cable-only WGWB would affiliate with My Network TV, but that affiliation went to WPXU/WEPX, leaving the future of WGWB in doubt. At one point, "ENC-Anime" maintained a secondary affiliation of CMXtv as this agreement was extended.

In the late summer of 2009 WGWB 12.3 is has moved to 12.5 to make way for THIS TV. THIS TV is a over the air digital sub channel that airs classic movies and tv series (including children's programming from Cookie Jar).
