Grand Turismo 4 (GT4) was the 4th installment of the racing simulator. released by sony on December 28, 2004 in Japan and Hong Kong, February 22, 2005 in the United States , and March 9, 2005 in Europe was playstation 2 and psp exclusive.

Whats Bad

the game has many critisms, the main one bieng the lack of rendered damage show on the car, however, the biggest critism came from top gear presenter and tester Jeremy Clarkson. in one of his challenges for top gear he raced on the game in a NSX and then in real life, both times round laguna seca. it showed that in real life he had to brake far earlier, and this in turn could cause loss of control. this made him question if GT4 is as convicing driving simulator than widely advertised by sony.

whats good

the new carreer mode and photo mode are a hlepful addition to a already very good game, also, one of the less advertised is you can place your photos from photo mode onto a removable usb hard drive (anything like a mp3 player or memory stick would work) you can then place them onto your computer and edit them like you would any other digital photo. however the photos from the usb storage mode generally come out really dark once placed onto your computer so a good piece of photo editing software is needed to get the most from this new feature

after its rivals, GT4 has now placed a manager style mode called b-spec. this enables you to take the back seat and just order another driver around the track. b-spec mode also has a time shift mode so you are not hanging around for ages on the longer races. the idea is to train yourself and the computer into knowing when to push, and when to come in for pitstops

What Do I Think

Kazunori Yamauchi and the sony team have hit the nail on this one, although the game is not perfect and can sometimes be irritating the host of new features and the great gameplay makes this one of the best racinng games of 2005
