The card featured matches that resulted from scripted storylines and had results predetermined by WIW on the Rage and ShowDown brand. Storylines were produced on WIW's weekly television shows Wednesday Night Rage, Thursday Night ShowDown and Dynamites Live, the latter of which is dynamite division-exclusive.

At Rage's pay-per-view No Remorse, Tyler Mane defeated Dustin Simpson to retain the WIW World Championship, even with stablemate and International Champion Kevin McAlmond serving as special guest referee, while at ShowDown's Halloween Hell pay-per-view, Craig Sandvig retained the WIW Heavyweight Championship against Charlie Lynch. On the October 19 episde of ShowDown, after a ShowDown Live event, Sandvig was asked by a fan what was next for him. Sandvig said that he had defeated every worthy opponent on the ShowDown roster and that at Soul Survivor, he wanted to face Rage's top champion, Tyler Man. Sandvig, howver, was interrupted by Kevin Hunter and Mark Semmler, who took exception to Sandvig's claim and challenged Sandvig for the WIW Heavyweight Championship. Sandvig said that both Hunter and Semmler were a couple of joke's, and Hunter and Semmler retaliated by attacking Sandvig and fighting off The Sandvig Brothers (Brian and Dave Sandvig). Backstage, Sandvig confronted ShowDown General Manager Turf Finnegan about the incident, and said that both of The Sandvig Brothers should make Hunter and Semmler pay and Finnegan agreed. Hunter and Semmler defeated The Sandvig Brothers in singles match on the following two episodes. Mane and his spokeswomen Scout Taylor-Compton and Renae Geerlings appeared on the October 25 episode of Rage to adress Sandvig's challenge where all three laughed at it. Compton state that Sandvig was not Mane's counterpart, nor worthy of being Heavyweight Champion, however, they accepted the challenge. The next couple of weeks on ShowDown, Sandvig repsond to Mane, stating that he had overcome a lot since becoming the WIW Heavyweight Champion and would shock the world and defeat Mane at Soul Survivor. On the November 2 episode of ShowDown, after Sandvig and the Sandvig Brothers attacked and assaulted Hunter and Semmler, a triple threat match with Sandvig defending the WIW Heavyweight Championship against Hunter and Semmler was announced for ShowDown next week with the winner facing Mane at Soul Survivor.

On the October 23 episode of Rage, Rage General Manager Rex Martin announced the match card for Soul Survivor. With the exception of Rage's WIW Dynamite Division Championship (as it does not have a ShowDown counterpart), every champion of the Rage brand was scheduled to face their counterpart of the ShowDown brand: World Champion Tyler Mane against Heavyweight Champion Craig Sandvig, International Champion Kevin McAlmond against United Nations Champion Elijah Eason, World Women's Champion Brenah McAlmond-Quinn against Heavyweight Women's Champion Beatrice LaGreca, and World Tag Team Champions The Hoopers (Matt Hooper and Josh Hooper) vs. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Larsons (Steven Larson and Tom Larson). Martin also announced that there would be two traditional Soul Survivor elimination matches, one male match and one female match, pitting five of Rage's male and female wrestlers against five of ShowDown's male and female wrestlers, respectively. Martin was then interupted Eric Stevens, who wanted to face McAlmond for the International Championship at Soul Survivor, Martin declined Stevenes challenge, telling Stevens that Soul Survivor would once again be Rage vs. ShowDown, Stevens tried to bully Martin into giving him a shot at the International Title, but was interrupted by the International Champion Kevin McAlmond who agreed to compete at Soul Survivor twice on behalf of Team Rage and face Eason first, then be part of Team Rage in the elimination match, Martin told McAlmond he'd have to think about it, McAlmond agreed and would then challenge Eason to do the same, facing him in the singles match early in the night and then join Team ShowDown in the Soul Survivor elimination match, Finnegan with several male and female ShowDown wrestlers came through the crowd. They proceeded to the backstage area and laid out all of the men and women of the Rage locker room. The following night on ShowDown, Dixie Finnegan confronted Turf Finnegan about the invasion saying that she was surpirse that Martin and members of the Rage brand did not invade ShowDown, but warned Turf that they would eventually show up for retribution on them. That same episode of ShowDown, Team ShowDown's men's team got its first member when Brent Huntley qualified by defeating Tony Casiano. November 1 episode of Rage, Rage Commissioner Glennda McAlmond returned to Rage, She said that ShowDown's invasion was an embarassment, but stated that Rage would not back down from War. She would also name Rex Martin the captain of Team Rage's men's team. Also that same episode, Dixie Finnegan appeared to apologize to Rex and Glennda, but she was attacked while in Martin's office, and was taken to a medical facility. Afterwards on Rage, Martin announced Mad Hanson as his first pick for Team Raw. On the November 2 episode of ShowDown, it was revealed that Turf Finnegan captain Team ShowDown's mens team, while also explaining their invasion of Rage, stating that ShowDown had always been looked at as the inferior brand. He also said that Rage would pay for injuring Dixie Finnegan. Later that episode, Charlie Lynch and Jordan Keltz qualified for the team by defeating Daniel Mazurek and Joe Linderman, respectively. The final spot is to be determined, on another episode of ShowDown.

On the October 23 episode of Rage, Team Rage's women's team began to take shape. A triple threat match between Leah, Victoria Lehr and Sari Pasma as scheduled to determine the Captain for Team Rage, which was won by Leah. On the October 26 episode of ShowDown, Allison Richards, Kadee Jones, Kaila Matteson, Sarah Hicks and Avery Gold were announced as the five members of Team ShowDown; Richards was named Captain by defeating the other four in a fatal five-way elimination match, by last eliminating Kaila Matteson. On October 28 it was announced by WIW's facebook page that, Jessica Rothe would make her debut on the November 1 episode of Rage, where she defeated Brianna Ferris to qualify for the elimination match.
