[edit] Background

SuperBrawl is considered WIW's flagship event, having been described as the Super Bowl of sports entertainment.

SuperBrawl will feature professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines that play out on WIW's primary television programs, Rage and ShowDown. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series matches.

The card will include matches resulting from scripted storylines and have results predetermined by WIW on the Rage and ShowDown brands. Storylines are produced on WIW's weekly television shows, Wednesday Night Rage, Thursday Night ShowDown, and Dynamite Live, the latter of which is Dynamites-exclusive.

The winner of the World War Rumble Match traditionally earns a world championship match at SuperBrawl. With the reintroduction of the brand extension in mid-2016, which resulted in two world titles in the promotion again, the Royal Rumble winner received a match for either Rage's WIW World Championship or ShowDown's WIW Heavyweight Championship. Brent Huntley won the 2017 World War Rumble match and thereby earned a title match for his brand's WIW Heavyweight Championship. On the following ShowDown, Huntley warned WIW Heavyweight Champion Mark Semmler, who had won the championship from Kevin Hunter at the World War, that if he manages to retain the title at Steel Roulette, he would be taking the title from him at SuperBrawl. Huntley then pinned Semmler in a tag team match pitting The Family (Huntley and and Jon Rispens) against Semmler and former Family member Jeremy Masiak, but lost to Huntley the following week thanks to a distraction by Masiak. At Steel Roulette, Huntley defeated Masiak, while Rispens won the Elimination Chamber match to become the new WIW World Champion. The following ShowDown, Rispens retained the championship against Semmler and Hunter, despite an attack by Masiak. Huntley then came out and said that he refuses to fight Rispens at SuperBrawl due to his devotion and salvation to Rispens. ShowDown General Manager Turf Finnegan then scheduled a 20-man battle royal on the February 23 episode to find a new opponent for Rispens at SuperBrawl. The battle royal ended in a draw when Semmler, Hunter and Masiak went over the top rope simultaneously; Hunter and Semmler defeated Masiak in a double pin the following week to become the number one contender. However, at the conclusion of the March 2 episode, as Rispens was about to deliver a message on Huntley's whereabouts, when Huntley appeared on the titan-tron and was at The Family compound, which was also the burial of one of Rispens relatives, the cult leader that Rispens followed and named his finisher after. Huntley declared that he was no longer Rispens's servant and that he only joined The Family to destroy them from the inside. Huntley then set the Family compound on fire, which caused Rispens to have a mental breakdown, and Huntley said he was coming for the WIW World Championship at SuperBrawl, Hunter and Semmler would then confront the broken and shattered Rispens and end up beating him up and executing a double powerbomb through the announcers table. Due to the confusion, Turf Finnegan and ShowDown Commissioner Dixie Finnegan scheduled Huntley to face Hunter and Semmler on the March 9 episode of ShowDown to determine the decisive number one contender for Rispens, the match ended in a no contest when Rispens interfered and attacked all three men, which brought out Turf Finnegan, who scheduled a Fatal four way elimination match between all four men at SuperBrawl. On the March 7 episode of ShowDown, Hunter defeated Rispens by countout when Huntley distracted Rispens on the titantron. On the March 14 episode, Huntley was attacked by Rispens before they teamed up in the main event against Hunter and Semmler, which resulted in Hunter and Semmler defeating Huntley in a handicap match when Rispens attacked Huntley and told him of his new found "powers" that was given to him by the Family Coven by Baptizing him in the ashes of their ancestors. The following week, Masiak warned Hunter, Semmler and mainly Huntley of Rispens new "coven powers", but said he would take out Rispens on the next episode. Later, Huntley was attacked backstage by Coven followers of Rispens, and Rispens performed a ritual on Huntley, later he attempted to do the same on Hunter but was attacked by Semmler, who saved Hunter from the ritual. Later that night, Hunter and Semmler defeated Huntley and Rispens when Huntley walked out on Rispens. On the final ShowDown before SuperBrawl, after Rispens defeated Masiak, The Enterprise (Hunter and Semmler) appeared on the titan-tron and claimed to have destroyed the powers of the Coven.

At Soul Survivor, Tyler Mane made his WIW debuting humiliating and defeating Chris LaGreca in one minute and twenty seconds. Both then competed in the World War match; Mane entered at number twenty and dispatched of several other wrestlers before Mane came out at number twenty-nine and once again humiliated LaGreca by quickly eliminating him from the match; Mane was soon after eliminated. The following Wednesday on Rage, LaGrca and Beatrice LaGreca appeared and challenged Mane to one final match at SuperBrawl IX. On the following Rage, Mane accepted LaGreca's challenge to officially set up the match. Mane also challenged Kevin McAlmond for the WIW World Championship at Final Fight on March 5, 2017, which was made official. On the February 22 episode of Rage, The LaGreca's said in an interview that if Mane wins the WIW World Championship, LaGreca will challenge him fro the title at SuperBrawl, as that will be another thing LaGreca to take from Mane. Later that evening, McAlmond and Mane teamed together to defeat The Erickson Brothers. On the following week's Rage, Mane and McAlmond would team together once more to defeat Matt Borske and Jeremy Calvert when McAlmond pinned Calvert. Also at Final Fight, Michael Phelps returned to the company as the mystery opponent for Matt Borske, Phelps would go on to defeat Matt Borske in Borske's last chance to be in the main event of SuperBrawl, earning Phelps a place in the WIW World Championship match, later in the evening on Final Fight, Mane kept his promise and turned his SuperBrawl match against LaGreca and now, Phelps in a Triple threat elimination match at SuperBrawl as announced by Rage General Manager, Rex Martin. The next Wednesday on Rage, LaGreca confronted Phelps and offered to shake his hand and work together to take the title from Mane at the event. Phelps, however, refused. Beatrice then exclaimed that at SuperBrawl, Mane and Phelps would be "Chris's bitch" and Chris attacked Phelps with a Brainbuster/F-5 combination, however before any more damage could be done Mane came out and brawled with LaGreca, sending LaGreca up the ramp. The following week, The LaGreca's gloated about Chris putting Phelps down the week before and Beatrice said that at SuperBrawl, LaGreca would have the greatest comeback in WIW history. On the final Rage before SuperBrawl, Mane, Phelps and LaGreca had one last confrontation where Mane executed a chokeslam on LaGreca and a spear on Phelps.

In June 2016, Kevin McAlmond and Matt Borske began feuding once again when McAlmond and Borske fought to a no contest when The Enterprise and The Authority of Wrestling interfered and a brawl ensued to end the show the outcome caused McAlmond to retain the WIW World Heavyweight Championship on the line at Money in the Bank on June 19, 2016. They had a rematch on the following weeks Rage, with McAlmond successfully defending the championship, McAlmond but getting attacked by Borske's brother Ryan Borske who aided Matt in a double team assault and putting McAlmond through the announce table. At Halloween Hell, McAlmond successfully defend the newly named WIW World Championship against Ryan Borske in a Hell in a Cell match. At Soul Survivor, McAlmond and Matt Borske were forced to team together as part of Team Rage, but all through the match would fight and argue, they would soon be the Soul Survivors for Team Rage, but would then begin brawling after. The following week on Rage, McAlmond challenged Borske to a fight, which Borske accepted. The two would fight through the arena, McAlmond would then be attacked by Ryan Borske and two masked assailants, McAlmond would miss the next few Rage's due to the injuries, whole McAlmond was gone then-WIW International Champion Dustin Simpson would continue McAlmond's feud with Matt and Ryan, defeating the Brothers in a handicap match to earn a championship match against McAlmond. At Winter Warzone, McAlmond defended the WIW World Championship against Simpson in a Champion vs. Champion match, with the match ending in a no contest when Borske debuted the newly named and improved Evolved Revolution interfered this would only bring out McAlmond newly and improved group, lead by Leah, she dubbed The Club of Chaos brawled with the Evolved Revolution to end the show. On the following weeks episode of Rage, a match was set with The Club of Chaos (WIW World Champion Kevin McAlmond and WIW International Champion Dustin Simpson) defending both championship against Evolved Revolution (Matt Borske and newcomer Jeremy Calvert), however on the January 11, 2017 episode of Rage, Calvert defeated Simpson to win the WIW International Championship in an impromptu title match. At World War, Calvert and Borske defeated McAlmond and Simpson in a No Disqualification Tornado tag team match when Calvert pinned Simpson after interference from Mad Hanson with the stipulations to the match being that, if McAlmond was pinned, he'd loss the WIW World Championship, and if Calvert was pinned, he'd loss the WIW International Championship, neither champion was pinned so both championships stayed with the champions. At Final Fight, Tyler Mane defeated McAlmond to win the WIW World Championship, when Evolved Revolution attacked McAlmond without Mane knowing. On the March 8, 2017 episode of Rage, McAlmond attacked Borske and Calvert and challenged Calvert to a match at SuperBrawl for the WIW International Championship, Borske accepted the challenge for him. On the following Wednesday, McAlmond defeated Calvert and Borske by disqualification in a 1-on-2 handicap match when they assaulted McAlmond with steel chairs. On the final Rage before SuperBrawl, McAlmond and Calvert signed the contract for the match. Later, Calvert and Borske defeated McAlmond and Dern in a tag team match when Evolved Revolution interfered.

In 2014, The Shield of Injustice (Michael Fonger, Grant Clark and Quay Painter) were involved in a rivalry with the Lehr's The Lehr's Nexus (Ryan Borske, Kris McGowan and Josh Erickson). After multiple losses to The Shield of Injustice, McGowan out of anger left WIW for months (before finally returning in 2017). thus The Lehr's Nexus disbanded. Ryan Borske then revealed their "Plan B to takeover WIW": Michael Fonger. Fonger attacked his former Shield of Injustice brothers and joined the Borske's new faction with plans of not only taking over WIW, but also MWA, however the alliance would short lived due to Fonger going down with an injury in late November 2015. He returned in mid-2016 and was drafted to the Rage brand then unsuccessfully challenged for the WIW World Championship. After unsuccessfully challenging for the title, he qualified for a fatal four way match with the winner facing the WIW World Champion. During the match, Ryan Broske and Matt Borske aided Fonger in eliminating Quay Painter before turning on him, which allowed Chase Andridge to win the shot at the title. Fonger did not address the incident until October, and called out Ryan Borske, who had won a title shot at the Halloween Hell pay-per-view where he unsuccessfully challenged Kevin McAlmond due to Fonger interfering and cosing Borske the title. On the January 25, 2017 episode of Rage, Fonger faced Aaron Schmalzried. In the climax of the match, Ryan Broske's music play, which distracted Fonger and allowed Schmalzried to win Fonger's spot in the World War Rumble match. On the February 1 episode of Rage, Authority of Wrestling members confronted Borkse and revealed that Ryan Broske would be there later that night. Borske showed up and declared that Fonger was a disappointment and he never should have chosen him for the takeover of WIW and MWA, before calling Fonger out. As Fonger made his way to the ring, he was attacked by John Borske, who made his main roster return. John's attack on Fonger re-injured him. It was then reported that Fonger would be out of action for up to eight weeks. Fonger appeared on the March 1 episode of Rage to address the status of his injury where he said that it was unlikely that he would be at SuperBrawl IX. Ryan Broske came out with John Borkse and warned Fonger not to come to SuperBrawl, because if he does, he would end him. Fonger declared that he would be at SuperBrawl. The following week, videos of Fonger's rehabilitation were show and Ryan Borske said that Fonger was ignorant for going against doctors advice and trying to compete at SuperBrawl. The Next week, Ryan Borske got into an altercation with Rage General Manager Rex Martin, after which Fonger came down and attacked Ryan Borske. However Ryan Borske recovered and attacked the injured knee and neck of Fonger's. On the March 22 episode, Fonger's physical therapist said that Fonger should not compete at SuperBrawl. Ryan Borske later challenged Fonger to a non-sanctioned No Holds Barred Street Fight, which would forbid Fonger from suing the WIW if he were to get injured again. The following week, Fonger signed the contract, thus making the match official, and he brawled with Ryan Borske.

At World War, Matt Borske competed in the 2017 30-man World War Rumble match, he was ultimately eliminated by the cousin of his bitter rival, Kooper McAlmond. On the March 8 episode of Rage, Mad Hanson, who lost to Kooper's fellow Club of Chaos member, Dustin Simpson at Final Fight, called Kooper out and stated that Simpson might have gotten lucky at the PPV, but he wouldn't if he faced him, however, Matt Borske came out. Broske would belittled Kooper and what he's done, telling him to step out of his cousins shadow and do something in his career, Borkse then offered Kooper a place in his new Evolved Revolution stable. As Matt Borske was about to leave, Kooper McAlmond eventually came out and confronted him. Kooper claimed that Hanson had called him out before declining his invitation, Borske. The two had a stare down and both looked up at the SuperBrawl sign. Borkse then attacked Kooper with a lowblow and a Bor-dom, a move he took from McAlmond and renamed it. A match between the two at SuperBrawl IX was confirmed the following week. Later on Rage during Kooper's match against Ryan Lorenz, Borkse came to the stage, distracting Kooper from the match, however, Kooper McAlmond defeated Lorenz. After the match, Kooper called Borske down to the ring, however, Broske sent Josh and Tyler Erickson out instead, Kooper McAlmond attacked both of them and continued to persuade Borske to enter the ring, but Borske walked backstage. The following week, during Kooper McAlmond's match with Hanson, Matt Borske appeared and attacked Hanson, causing a disqualification win for Hanson. As Borske turned his attention to Kooper, Kooper attacked Borske with a KooperBomb. After Kooper McAlmond left the ring, Borske slowly got back to his feet and taunted Kooper. On the final Rage before SuperBrawl, Borske delivered a promo, stating that Kooper McAlmond will never be as big as his cousin and after he beats him at SuperBrawl, he's going to prove it to Kooper and the World.

At Steel Roulette during the WIW World Championship Elimination Chamber match, as Daniel Gonzalez had a stare down with Aron Satre, International Champion Daniel Mazurek eliminated Gonzalez with a rollup pin. An enraged Gonzalez attacked Mazurek and executed his finishing maneuver before he left the chamber; Satre subsequently eliminated Mazurek. On the following ShowDown, Mazurek wanted to exact revenge on Gonzalez, hoever, he was attacked by Gonzalez just as Mazurek made his entrance for his match. Mazurek and Gonzalez then participated in the WIW World Championship number one contender's battle royal, where Mazurek eliminated Gonzalez. Gonzalez again attacked Mazurek with his finishing move and Mazurek was eventually eliminated from the match. Mazurek called out Gonzalez over the next couple of weeks. Gonzalez attacked Mazurek backstage and proclaimed his desire to take the International Championship from Mazurek. On the March 16 episode of ShowDown, Gonzalez formally challenged Mazurek for the title at SuperBrawl IX. The following week during Gonzalez's match against Charlie Lynch, Mazurek caused a distraction and cost Gonzalez th ematch. He then accepted Gonzalez challenge and executed his finisher on him, it was later revealed that due to his victory over the contender to the International Title, Lynch would also be involved in the match making it a triple threat match at SuperBrawl.

At Winter Warzone, Kaila Matteson defeated Sari Pasma win her record third WIW World Women's Championship, ending their long feud, and as per a post-event stipulation, as long as one of them were champion, the other could not challenge for the title. Matteson began Kelli Kerpa, resulting in a championship match at the World War event, where Matteson retained the title. The next Wednesday on Rage, Kerpa pinned Matteson in a tag team match, this granting her a rematch at the title on the February 15 episode of Rage, where she defeated Matteson to become the new World Women's Champion, thanks to help from Pasma, later that night Matteson was granted her rematch and defeated Kerpa to win her record fourth World Women's Championship, however after her win Miss Money in the Bank, Kara Magill attacked Matteson and cashed in her contract to defeat Matteson and win her first World Women's Championship. The following week, Matteson confronted Magill and demanded she relinquish her title due the way she had won it, but Magill refused. Kerpa then came out and invoked her championship rematch for Final Fight, Matteson and Kerpa argued about who gets the first rematch until Rage Commissioner Glennda McAlmond confronted all three women and scheduled a triple threat match for the title at Final Fight, which saw Magill retain after Pasma interfered. The following Wednesday night on Rage, Pasma said that her and Magill should face off for the title at SuperBrawl IX as it was a dream of theirs to face each other at the event. Matteson came out and demanded that she have a rematch due to Pasma's interference and said that Pasma was only pretending to like Magill and that she interfered due to the Winter Warzone stipulation, Victoria Lehr confronted all four women to claim her shot at World Women's Championship, which ultimately lead to Rage General Manager Rex Martin announcing that Pasma would face Magill that night to qualify for the match, Martin would also announced Lehr and Matteson next week and if Lehr is to qualify the match would become a fatal five way elimination match, Pasma defeated Magill in her qualification match to make the World Women's Championship match a triple threat at SuperBrawl. The following week, Lehr failed to defeat Magill after interference from Matteson. The following week prior to Raw, the match was turned into a Fatal 4-Way elimination match. On Rage, Magill teamed with Pasma to defeat The Matteson Sisters, after which Leah came out and laid out her three opponents. On the final Rage before SuperBrawl, Leah, Magill and Pasama defeated The Matteson Sisters and Katie Axline, with Magill pinned Axline. After the match The Matteson Sisters "fired" Axline and belittled her before Axline attacked both Matteson's until they escaped.

On the World War pre-show, The Club of Chaos (Matt Hooper and James Burdick) defeated Craig Remsen and Seth Smith to win the WIW World Tag Team Championship. Smith and Remsen invoked their rematch clause, but lost due to interference from Ryan Gleason and Brian Tobol, it would later be announced that every member of the Club of Chaos were recognized as World Tag Team Champions and would be able to defend the titles under the Freebird Rule. On the February 22 episode of Rage, Gleason and Tobol defeated Smith and Remsen to receive a tag title match against The Club of Chaos at Final Fight, were Matt Hooper and Ryan Barnhart defended and retain the titles. The following Wednesday on Rage, in a rematch Smith and Remsen got involved, cosing Gleason and Tobol the titles. Later on, Rage General Manager Rex Martin announced a fatal four way elimination match on the March 15 episode of Rage and the winners would go on to challenge The Club of Chaos for the titles at SuperBrawl IX, the match will involved Gleason and Tobol, Remsen and Smith, two members from the Evolved Revolution and two members of the The Wolf Pack, the match ended in a no contest when The Club of Chaos attacked everyone, this made Rex Martin schedule a fatal four way tag team match for the titles at SuperBrawl. The following week, Remsen and Smith defeated the Four Club of Chaos representatives for SuperBrawl's title match (Dustin Simpson, Matt Hooper, James Burdick and Jesse Dern) and the three Wolf Pack representatives (Scott McCall, Derek Hale and Stiles Stilinski) and Gleason and Tobol in a 2-on-9 handicap match with the stipulation being that if Remsen and Smith were to lose, they would be out of the SuperBrawl match; Remsen and Smith retained their spot in the Fatal four way match when The Club of Chaos and The Wolf Pack attacked Gleason and Tobol and left them for Remsen and Smith. Backstage the following week, The Club of Choas and The Wolf Pack attacked Remsen and Smith with a ladder. In the ring, The Wolf Pack attacked to attack Gleason and Tobol, but Remsen and Smith retaliated and attacked them with a ladder. All four teams brawled and The Club of Chaos were the last standing. The SuperBrawl was then turned into a triple threat ladder match for the WIW World Tag Team Championship.

At Steel Roulette, Sarah Hicks defeated Brittany Hiatt to win the WIW Women's Championship. The following Thursday night on ShowDown, Hiatt invoked her rematch but was unsuccessful in regaining the title. The following week on ShowDown, Beatrice LaGreca hinted that she wanted to face Hicks for the title. On the March 9 episode of ShowDown, during a in-ring segment with Hicks, Allison Richards, Courtney Hope, Kayty Kapphan, Megan Zanto, LaGreca, Riley Austin, Shaina Dargan and a few others from the ShowDown Women's roster including Hiatt's ally Jamie Carroll staking their claim to the title shot at SuperBrawl, which seemed to upset Hiatt. ShowDown General Manager Turf Finnegan then came out and informed everyone that they would all get their opportunity at the title at SuperBrawl as he was scheduled Hicks to defend the title in a Women's Open Invitational match at SuperBrawl. On the March 16 episode ShowDown, former Women's Champion's Allison Richards and Brittany Hiatt announced their participation in the match, later that evening newly signed ShowDown Women Kadee Jones and Lindsey Mahrt announced their participation as well as Courtney Hope, Kayty Kapphan, Jamie Carroll and Beatrice LaGreca all announcing their participation. Three matches were contested on the two-hour long SuperBrawl Kickoff pre-show.

In the first match, Richard Allen defended the WIW Dynamite Division Championship against Tristan McNatt. Finally, Daniel Mazurek defended the United Nations Championship against both Daniel Gonzalez and Charlie Lynch. In the end, Gonzalez took Lynch out by hitting him with the United Nations Championship, Gonzalez then attempted to hit Mazurek with the title, only for Mazurek to counter and perform his finishing maneuver on Gonzalez and pin him to retain the title.
