Story
Prologue: Teh Koopa Mamma
One day in the Yoshi Bodyguards, Koop suddenly remembers that before joining the YB he had gone to get some bread for his mother, but had somehow forgotten--which is bad news for him, as his mother is frightening when angry. He flies to his apparent hometown of Petalburg and finds his home trashed and his brother, Phried-D, trapped in a hole. According to him, some thugs had arrived and kidnapped their mother and siblings. Koop uses KUC to scan Phried-D's mind and determine the kidnappers are some koopas calling themselves "K-Nauts".
Koop receives a call on his Platinum Shroom demanding a "treasure" or his family members would pay. KUC traces the call to Shhwonk Fortress and Koop and the YBs travel there, encountering a koopa calling himself Lord Krump outside the fortress. He tells them that Koop's family has been scattered, and they engage in battle. Top falls in the water and that somehow beats him; he tells them one of Koop's brothers, Cries, is in the fortress. After destroying a loud furby they find Cries, who informs Koop that the twins, Statico and Carpet, are at Keelhaul Key.
Chapter One: Ze Shocking Twinz
The YBs make landing at Keelhaul Key and break into Pirate's Grotto. They arrive at Cortez's ship, once again stranded inside the cave. They demand he give them Statico and Carpet, which Cortez willingly obliges with because they're annoying. However, then they notice someone else Cortez has locked up, Zar, who tells them that he has met Asmodeus III. This is enough to get the YB to make a deal with Cortez for Zar's freedom, provided they can find Cortez's stolen skull gem so his ship can sail again.
In a burst of randomness, Koop suggests they search under Top's hat. Although Stuffwell claims its innocence, Koop crawls underneath Top's hat and somehow finds an entire town underneath it, despite Stuffwell having never seen it while underneath his hat. He pulls Zar in, who confirms that there is, indeed, an entire town underneath Top's hat.
Chapter WHOKNOWSWHAT: Under Top's Hat Town
Everyone except for Top and Oshy enter Top's Hat Town to track the skull gem thief, who reveals to be Popple. They chase him through the town and engage in a scuffle with him in a building, during which the skull gem flies out a window. Zar is able to nab it and Coshi captures Popple with excessive force. They leave Top's Hat Town and return the skull gem to Cortez, and Carpet reveals Popple had been working for the K-Nauts and knows where their brothers are.
Because of the excessive force Coshi used in capturing Popple, they first have to treat his wounds before getting information from him. After they do, however, Popple instantly flees the ship out through the cave. Zar and Coshi chase after him and capture him again, after which they demand the information from him; he asks for them to find his hat, which had been stolen by Chibi earlier. She shows up just at that moment and she returns his hat. Popple then reveals one of Koop's siblings is in Top's Hat Town.
They reenter the town and locate Koop's siblings, but find the door to be locked. They suspect Popple to have the key to the door, but Popple escapes from Cortez's ship while they're in the town. When they exit the town, they find Top had returned to the YB HQ, leaving them with even less of a clue as to Popple's location. Zar went off to try and find him...
