Gavilan is a Juurhinka, one of the few who remains a hero. He was a Toa of Light prior to the transformation.

History
Little is known about Gavilan's life as a Toa. According to his own accounts, he was attacked by a Makuta during one of his expeditions into the Makuta Chain, but ended up befriending the Makuta, who then assisted him in completing the mission. At the end, they were attacked by a group of Makuta warriors; they won, but his Makuta companion was fatally wounded in the battle. As a last resort, Gavilan allowed the Makuta to enter him, and the two formed a Juurhinka.
Since then, Gavilan has continued his work as a force for good, but no longer serves the Turaga High Council. He primarily works as a mercenary, taking on jobs which appeal to him, and will not hesitate to assist Matoran and Toa in need.
Powers and Traits
As a Juurhinka, Gavilan has a high capacity for control over the element of darkness, additionally wielding his Toa element, light. His control over light, however, is diminished as a result of the Juurhinka process, and he has limited knowledge in how to use his powers beyond the basics. He also wields a limited cross-section of Makuta powers, notably including fear and anger.
Gavilan prefers to make use of his physical traits in battle, as opposed to relying on his powers. He possesses the enhanced strength beyond average Toa common to the Juurhinka species, but is also as fast and agile as a Toa of Air. He is highly talented in use of melee weapons.
Personality
Unlike most Juurhinka, Gavilan has a rather positive outlook on life, and remains emotionally balanced. However, he is still rather reserved, and does not enjoy speaking. He has a habit of becoming easily attracted to Toa of the opposite gender, particularly those of Water. He will not hesitate to defend Matoran and Toa from threats, regardless of the odds.
