Production
Background
Like the previous year, the theme of Soul Survivor is brand supremacy. With the exception of Rage's WIW Dynamite Division Championship (as it does not have a SmackDown counterpart), every champion of the Rage brand will face their counterpart of the ShowDown brand in non-title matches: the WIW World Champion against WIW Heavyweight Champion, the International Champion against the United Nation Champion, the Rage World Women's Champion against the ShowDown Heavyweight Women's Champion, and the Rage World Tag Team Champions against the ShowDown Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. Two traditional Survivor Series elimination matches, one male match and one female match, pitting five of Raw's male and female wrestlers against five of SmackDown's male and female wrestlers, respectively, will also occur.
Storylines
The card will consist of matches resulting from scripted storylines, with results predetermined by World Incorporated Wrestling's writers on the Raw and SmackDown brands. Storylines are produced on WIW's weekly television shows, Wednesday Night Rage and Thursday Night ShowDown.
At Glamorous Revolution, Sis Bates defeated Samantha Hendricks to retain the WIW World Women's Championship, while Ali Richards defeated Kaila Matteson and Jade Zimmer in a Last Woman Standing Triple threat elimination match to retain the WIW Heavyweight Women's Championship. During Bates's backstage interview following her win, she was confronted by Richards, and a match between the two was scheduled for Soul Survivor.
At All Hail, Kevin Hunter defeated Mark Semmler and Peter Damrow in a Triple threat match to retain the WIW Heavyweight Championship, while Tyler Mane defeated Matt Borske and Mad Hanson in a second triple threat match to regain the WIW World Championship, setting up a rematch between Hunter and Mane from the previous year's event.
During the All Hail pre-show, Corbin Edwards defeated Jeffrey Mahana to retain WIW United Nations Championship. Following the event, a match between Edwards and International Champion Kooper McAlmond was scheduled for Soul Survivor.
On the November 7 episode of Rage, Rage General Manager Rex Martin revealed Michael Fonger, Quay Painter, and Kevin McAlmond as the first three members of Team Rage's men's team while naming himself as captain, stating he would not compete due to his managerial position, but McAlmond will be the competitive captain. McAlmond interjected, about having to team with Fonger and Painter, Martin told McAlmond he would take it under advisement about replacing them, Martin then had McAlmond face Painter where if McAlmond won, he would have been able to do what he pleased with the team; however, McAlmond lost by disqualification when Fonger and Stevens interfered. After the match, McAlmond attacked Fonger, Painter and Stevens. McAlmond then had an intense staredown with Martin before leaving the arena.
On the November 7 episode of Rage, Rage General Manager Rex Martin named Kathy Kidder as captain of Team Rage's women's team, but in a non-competing capacity due to her duties as general manager for the women's division.
