The card will feature matches resulting from scripted storylines and have results predetermined by WIW on the Rage and ShowDown brands. Storylines are produced on WIW's weekly television shows, Wednesday Night Raw and Thursday Night ShowDown, and Dynamites Live, the latter of which is cruiserweight exclusive.
On the June 21 episode of Rage, Dustin Simpson proclaimed no matter who the champion was he was the number one contender and the next in line for a shot at the WIW World Championship at SummerBash. Later that night, Simpson lost his match against Cody McDuffie after Mad Hanson returned and cost Simpson the match. At Addicted to Chaos, Hanson defeated Simpson in the first-ever Hell on Eath Ambulance match, but Simpson would attack Hanson injuring him severly, while WIW World Champion Tyler Mane fought International Champion Kevin McAlmond to a double-disqualification when Evolved Revolution attacked the referee, before assaulting both Mane and McAlmond. The following Wednesday night on Rage, Rage General Manager Rex Martin confronted Mane and McAlmond about the outcome of the match and booked both men to face off against each other at SummerBash, this time with both the WIW World and WIW International Championship's on the line. They were interrupted by Simpson, who said that he deserved a match against Mane at SummerBash, but Mane said he didn't deserve it. McDuffie then came out and said to McAlmond and Mane that if he ever had a shot at the WIW World Championship, he'd take advantage of it and win it in his first shot. Martin then scheduled a number one contender's match between Simpson and McDuffie for the following week where the winner would advance to the WIW World Championship and International Championship match at SummerBash, Martin then announced that if Simpson or McDuffie wins the match at SummerBash would be a Two-fall Triple threat match with the first fall being for McAlmond's WIW International Championship and the second fall being for Mane's WIW World Championship, the match between Simpson and McDuffie ended in a no contest, when Eric Stevens attacked both men, this also brough out Matt Borske and the International Champion Kevin McAlmond made the save, only to be attacked by Stevens' Evolved Revolution, Stevens then stole the International Championship, also leaving Rage's main event for SummerBash unclear. However, Immediately after, Rage General Manager Rex Martin said he would see how injured McAlmond is before decided on what to do for SummerBash, he also informed Stevens that if he doesn't return the title on the same show, he wouldn't be part of SummerBach, period. On the July 16 episode of Rage, Rex Martin was about to announce who would face Mane for the WIW World Championship when Stevens interrtuped him, still in possesion of McAlmond's International Championship, Stevens told Martin that he was declaring himself International Champion and therefore he should be the one to face Mane in the title for title match, he was then interrupted by Borske, who was interrupted by Simpson, each man giving there issue to face off with Mane at SummerBash, McAlmond returned through the crowd and attacked Stevens, but Stevens would escape still in possesion of McAlmond's International Championship, Martin would announced a six-man tag team match for the night's main event, McAlmond would team with Simpson and Borske and face Stevens and his stablemates, Gleason and Tobol, also making the stipulation that if McAlmond, Simpson, Borske or Stevens were pinned they would be out of the title match at SummerBash. Later on in the show; McAlmond, Borske and Simpson defeated Stevens, Gleason and Tobol with Borske pinning Stevens, removing him for the match, McAlmond also got back the International title, Martin then informed McAlmond, Borske and Simpson would be facing Mane at SummerBash with both the International Championship and WIW World Championship on the line in a Two-Fall Double Title Fatal 4-Way match, but only if they Borske and Simpson could survive the oncoming coming weeks on Rage leading up to the PPV, because they would all be in singles match aginst members of Evolved Revolution each week and if they lost they would be removed from the match at SummerBash, and McAlmond would defend the International Championship against Stevens once and Gonzalez once before SummerBash.
On the July 13 episode of ShowDown, ShowDown Commishiner Dixie Finnegan scheduled a fatal five-way elimination match for Battle Scars between Kaila Matteson, Allison Richards, Beatrice LaGreca, Katelyn Whitehead and Somer Cummings. The winner of that match will face Sarah Hicks for the WIW Women's Championship at SummerSlam, which was won by LaGreca.
At Hardcore Heaven, Brittany Hiatt fought Leah to no contest when Victoria Lehr interfered and attacked both Hiatt and Leah. The following Wednesday on Rage, Leah told Hiatt she wanted a rematch at the World Women's Championship when the time comes around. At Addicted to Chaos, Sari Pasma defeated Brittany Hiatt by count-out, thus Hiatt retained the WIW World Women's Championship. At a WIW live event, Lehr pinned Hiatt in a singles match. The following Wednesday on Rage, Leah teamed up with Pasma and faced Hiatt and Leahr, where Leah pinned Hiatt, and she again pinned her the following week in a singles match. Later that episode, Leah, Pasma and Lehr confronted Rage General Manager Rex Martin about who should be the number one contender for the World Women's Championship, Lehr made her case on pinning Hiatt at a live event, while Leah made her case that she pinned Hiatt two weeks in a row on episode's of Rage, Pasma claimed that she would be champion if Hiatt had not gotten herself intentionally counted out at Addicted to Chaos. Rex Martin decided that the three will face each other the following week where the winner will face Hiatt for the title at SummerBash. The following week, after the match ended in a no contest when Hiatt interfered and aided Lehr in an attack on Leah and Pasma, only for Club of Chaos member Brenah McAlmond-Quinn to chase them away, after all the Women were seperated, Rage General Manager Rex Martin informed Hiatt that since she attacked both Leah and Pasma, causing the match to end in a no contest, she would have to face all four women in a Fatal 5-Way match, including Brenah.
