Background
SuperBrawl is considered WIW's flagship event, having been described as the Super Bowl of sports entertainment.
SuperBrawl will feature professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines that play out on WIW's primary television programs, Rage and ShowDown. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series matches.

The card will include matches resulting from scripted storylines and have results predetermined by WIW on the Rage and ShowDown brands. Storylines are produced on WIW's weekly television shows, Wednesday Night Rage, Thursday Night ShowDown, and Dynamite Live, the latter of which is Dynamites-exclusive.
The winner of the World War Rumble Match traditionally earns a world championship match at SuperBrawl. With the reintroduction of the brand extension in mid-2016, which resulted in two world titles in the promotion again, the Royal Rumble winner received a match for either Rage's WIW World Championship or ShowDown's WIW Heavyweight Championship. Brent Huntley won the 2017 World War Rumble match and thereby earned a title match for his brand's WIW Heavyweight Championship. On the following ShowDown, Huntley warned WIW Heavyweight Champion Mark Semmler, who had won the championship from Kevin Hunter at the World War, that if he manages to retain the title at Steel Roulette, he would be taking the title from him at SuperBrawl. Huntley then pinned Semmler in a tag team match pitting The Family (Huntley and and Jon Rispens) against Semmler and former Family member Jeremy Masiak, but lost to Huntley the following week thanks to a distraction by Masiak. At Steel Roulette, Huntley defeated Masiak, while Rispens won the Elimination Chamber match to become the new WIW World Champion. The following ShowDown, Rispens retained the championship against Semmler and Hunter, despite an attack by Masiak. Huntley then came out and said that he refuses to fight Rispens at SuperBrawl due to his devotion and salvation to Rispens. ShowDown General Manager Turf Finnegan then scheduled a 20-man battle royal on the February 23 episode to find a new opponent for Rispens at SuperBrawl. The battle royal ended in a draw when Semmler, Hunter and Masiak went over the top rope simultaneously; Hunter and Semmler defeated Masiak in a double pin the following week to become the number one contender. However, at the conclusion of the March 2 episode, as Rispens was about to deliver a message on Huntley's whereabouts, when Huntley appeared on the titan-tron and was at The Family compound, which was also the burial of one of Rispens relatives, the cult leader that Rispens followed and named his finisher after. Huntley declared that he was no longer Rispens's servant and that he only joined The Family to destroy them from the inside. Huntley then set the Family compound on fire, which caused Rispens to have a mental breakdown, and Huntley said he was coming for the WIW World Championship at SuperBrawl, Hunter and Semmler would then confront the broken and shattered Rispens and end up beating him up and executing a double powerbomb through the announcers table. Due to the confusion, Turf Finnegan and ShowDown Commissioner Dixie Finnegan decided that Huntley will face Hunter and Semmler on the March 9 episode of ShowDown to determine the decisive number one contender for Rispens.
At Soul Survivor, Tyler Mane made his WIW debuting humiliating and defeating Chris LaGreca in one minute and twenty seconds. Both then competed in the World War match; Mane entered at number twenty and dispatched of several other wrestlers before Mane came out at number twenty-nine and once again humiliated LaGreca by quickly eliminating him from the match; Mane was soon after eliminated. The following Wednesday on Rage, LaGrca and Beatrice LaGreca appeared and challenged Mane to one final match at SuperBrawl IX. On the following Rage, Mane accepted LaGreca's challenge to officially set up the match. Mane also challenged Kevin McAlmond for the WIW World Championship at Final Fight on March 5, 2017, which was made official. On the February 22 episode of Rage, The LaGreca's said in an interview that if Mane wins the WIW World Championship, LaGreca will challenge him fro the title at SuperBrawl, as that will be another thing LaGreca to take from Mane. Later that evening, McAlmond and Mane teamed together to defeat The Erickson Brothers. On the following week's Rage, Mane and McAlmond would team together once more to defeat Matt Borske and Jeremy Calvert when McAlmond pinned Calvert. At Final Fight, Michael Phelps returned to the company as the mystery opponent for Matt Borske, Phelps would go on to defeat Matt Borske in Borske's last chance to be in the main event of SuperBrawl, earning Phelps a place in the WIW World Championship match, later in the evening, Mane defeated McAlmond to win the WIW World Championship when Evolved Revolution interfered and at first attacked both men, but McAlmond and Mane cleared the ring of the group, but Borske came back in behind Mane and struck McAlmond with the title belt, allowing Mane to hit McAlmond with a chokeslam to win the title.
