For the TimeSplitters 2 Arcade League Challenge, see: Time to Split

Time To Split picks up right where TimeSplitters 2's Story mode left off. After escaping the Space Station in TimeSplitters 2, Cortez flew back to Earth with the Time Crystals. The mission begins after Cortez's crash landing.

Strategy

Right, you don't exactly need this part do you? Oh well...

Cortez starts off upside and is led by a fellow soldier to the base. Note the character standing on the cliff in the distance? You'll find out about it later. For now, follow the soldiers down the ravine and waste all the humanoid enemies firing at you. Follow the soldiers over the wreckage to the lower side of the ravine and move on. The scifi pistol can zoom (barely) but its enough to let you hit enemies in the head from far away.

The large glowing green boxes are explosives you can shoot and destroy enemies with; target them first to conserve ammo. The birght colored boxes on the ground are usually grenades or medical kits. Armor resembles blue vests; ammunition usually takes the form of dull wood or metal boxes. You're not missing anything terribly important here, except the plasma autorifle dropped from one of the various enemies. Be sure to take one and stow it away (normal and hard), since you'll need it later.

Take care of the enemies near the bridge -- blow the boxes -- and continue on to meet with some sucker who gives you a sci-fi sniper. Activate the shield first, then step out and shoot the boxes behind the snipers. The shield should be enough to protect Cortez from being chewed up too badly.

Shooting any of the boxes behind the snipers will cause an explosion to clear the nest. Take out the plasma autorifle and get ready to fight invisible, lightining throwing Timesplitters. Round the canyon and keep a look out for dust and the "predator shimmer" that gives away a timesplitter. Note the splitters need to decloak before they attack; they also turn visible if they are hit or you can trace their origin of fire when they shoot lightning. Take out the few splitters here, or make a run for it. There is a mounted plasma gun ahead Cortez can man.

The plasma turret gun can be fired forever, unlike the plasma autorifle, so use it to mow down the fifty billion splitters who assault your position. Sweep the cliffs, then the canyon entrance you came from, then sweep back to the cliffs (on the gun's left side). With two players, each player can cover one side and in turn, each other. Once the splitter wave is stemmed, move on to the last battle.

Take all the grenades and power-ups before leaving the plasma gun. Although the objective is to "hold the line", Cortez would be wiser to move to the very end of the sandbag wall and hide behind it. There are grenades and health pick-ups there, and he can throw grenades at splitters from behind cover. Kill 20 splitters (more on hard, less on easy) and the base's door will unlock, ending the stage. Enjoy the cinematic with the General and Anya.

Trivia

  • Near the beginning of the level, a soldier makes a reference to TimeSplitters 2. He asks about what happened to Corporal Hart, but soon drops the question.
  • When Cortez defends the outpost using the gun emplacement a soldier yells "They're coming out the walls! They're out the godamn walls!"

This is a reference to an old alien movie.
