[edit] History

Jess grew up in a perfectly average household, with her parents, older sister Jen, and older brother Jason. As the youngest in the family, she was just a touch spoiled, but not excessively so. When she was a child, she used to look up to her sister the most, but as Jen reached her teenage years, seven years just seemed like a bit too much distance, and it was then that Jess started following Jason around instead.

It was Jason's influence that stuck with her the most, however, as she's grown up to be a bit of a tomboy and as much of a geek as her older brother. She doesn't have his natural talent for mechanics, but she can almost match his aptitude for math and science, she's about his equal with a computer, and she's better than him at Street Fighter II (a fact that she cheerfully lords over him at every opportunity).

At sixteen years old, she hasn't quite gotten to the point where she's decided what her plans for college and life after that are, but she's pretty sure she's going to major in computer programming. Until then, she just wants to finish coasting through high school and slacking off along the way - though with recent events in Sydney and the strange power she seems to be developing out of nowhere, that's about to change...

...and change it did, as the death of her brother proved to be the catalyst that flipped her life upside-down - she took Jason's place as a member of the Sydney Seals, and as such, her own powers finally began to develop. She wasted no time in trying to avenge her brother's death, facing Caleb Alchin at King's Cross, but succeeded only in getting the crap kicked out of her, and the barrier fell.

Not long after, Jen appeared on the community, though without a side. And since then, Jess has been trying to balance being a Seal with her normal life and a heavy side dose of flailing and biting her nails as her sister unwittingly befriends the people who are trying to kill them all.

[edit] Personality

At first glance, Jess takes after her brother in more than just geek street cred - she's got the same laid-back, friendly nature. However, she's also a bit more tempermental and a bit less forgiving, and unlike him she can and will hold a grudge until the day she dies if you do something that seriously pisses her off. Although she loves her brother and looks up to him, she also gets a bit irritated with observations that she could almost pass for a mini-Jason turned female, and saying as much is one of the easiest ways to get on her bad side.

Though she identifies more with Jason, she's also remained close to Jen, who seems to have the duty of making sure Jess doesn't forget how to act like a girl.

[edit] Powers

Absorbing and redirecting energy. Energy has to come from an external source; she can't do anything with her own energy. But if she has access to an electrical outlet or something like that - or some kind of energy attack from another person - she can absorb it, store it for a brief time (no more than a minute or so), and discharge it as an energy attack of her own.

She's also found, after some experimentation, that she can use other people as an energy source. She's still fine-tuning that, though.
