Incumbent President Whitney Mason has announced his intention to seek a second term and is widely expected to face little or no serious challenge from within the Democratic Party. Former WSC Governor David Cromartie and DIX Congresswoman Elizabeth Daniels announced their intentions to primary by filing with the FEC, however they withdrew. Cromartie then endorsed sitting President Mason at the very early stages of the primaries.
