Retirements
Governors Tim Kent is running in the Republican presidential primary and is unlikely run for re-election if they win the Republican nomination. Otherwise, he's expected to run for re-election.
Governor Kyle Baccei, Republican incumbent and former Presidential candidate, is retiring after one term of service to run for SW Senate. Congressman Zapp Branningman filed the FEC to run for his seat as a Republican, but soon withdrew due to his appointment as Senator [1]. Daniel Fox is now the actual candidate [2]
Former Governor Brian Murphy retired and endorsed Alyson Cauthon, but then resigned. Lt. Governor Roberta Christmas was elevated, but soon resigned too due to the little support she had. J.D. Comfort was elevated, but will not run for re-election.

Kyle Baccei (R-TX) of the Sunbelt
Kyle Baccei had spent much of 2018 preparing for a potential presidential run, but withdrew from the presidential race shortly after the 2018 general election in order to focus on re-election to the Governor's Mansion [3]. He retired afterwards, handing the nomination to Mitchell Davis [4], who then withdrew [5]. Zapp Branningman, former Democrat who openened a exploratory committee in 2018 before switching parties, announced his run for Governor, but soon withdrew due to his appointment as Senator [6]. Daniel Fox, the son of former Senator Hiroko Fox, is currently running for the Republican nomination [7]
