Personality

More often than not, Tamaki is a very happy person who wants to live life to the fullest. He is extremely narcissistic, flaunting his good looks around at every possible opportunity. Everything he does reeks of pretentiousness - from his drawn out, eloquent speeches to his melodramatic reaction to even the slightest insult or criticism. While easily offended, he'll always forget about it as soon as he find another reason to bounce around like a rubber ball (just taller).

He is easily moved by the hardships of others, and will do anything in his power to help somebody, even if it will end up having a negative impact on him. In some cases, his pure, energetic niceness and over-the-top nature is a bit off-putting. However, Tamaki is just to endearing that even if people are wary of him at first, they have no choice but to succumb to his charm. He is optimistic to the point of naivete. He truly believes that there are no unbeatable odds, you can find a bright side to any situation, and true love really does conquer all.

As you might expect, Tamaki loves everyone, but he loves his friends the most of all. When he arrived in Japan, his grandmother forbade him to speak to or see his mother, but he still held no resentment towards her. He loves his mom and misses her immensely, but nothing will stop him from doing what he wants, and what he wants is to be happy. He has the occasional moment of angst, which is understandable, even for him, but this is rare and he doesn't want people to see it. After all, if Tamaki is upset, there's no hope for anyone, is there?

History

Tamaki is half-French and half-Japanese. His father had an affair with a woman on a trip to France and fell in love with her, and he divorced his legal wife when Tamaki was born. His mother, Tamaki's grandmother, is the head of the family, and she made Tamaki's father come back to Japan, leaving Tamaki's mother to take care of him alone. She soon became sick, and Tamaki was the one taking care of her. He spent most of his free time playing the piano for his mom, instead of going out to play with friends like most children.

When he was in middle school, Tamaki's rich family back in Japan offered his mother a large amount of money to hand custody of him over to them, as he was the only heir to the Suou family. To pay for medical expenses and a better life for her son, she agreed, and Tamaki went to Japan. His grandmother, who never liked him because he was the product of an affair, would not permit him to live in the main Suou house or have any contact with his mother. In spite of all this, Tamaki remained happy, and enrolled in Ouran Private Academy, where it did not take long for him to rise to the top of his class and become friends with everyone. In his first year of high school, he created the Host Club, which has helped all its members overcome their insecurities and find their true selves.

Relationships

Kaoru Hitachiin: He's the only person from Tamaki's old world. The two can usually be found bickering, and Tamaki is firm in his belief that he's a deranged upstart. The poor boy lives in fear that Kaoru's brother will appear and wreck the entire town. But, despite this, he knows Kaoru's a great guy, and he lobes him as he loves all his friends.

Sora: The very first person Tamaki met upon arriving in Manhattan, Sora is just about the best OSJAM apprentice that anyone could ask for. In Tamaki's eyes, the boy is nothing short of amazing. His enthusiasm and willingness to help is an inspiration to everyone around him. Give Sora a few more years and a good thesaurus, and he may just outshine Tamaki. He'd love Sora anyway.

Roxas: Roxas needs more hugs! And more happiness in general. He doens't seem too happy, to Tamaki, but he's nice. Roxas is often confused by Tamaki's antics, which in turn, confuses Tamaki. Tamaki does nice things, people smile, Manhattan is a little happier. What's so hard to understand about that?

Miyazawa Yukino: Yukino has been a great help to Tamaki, and OSJAM would surely be unable to function the same without her. She's a sweet girl, and is certainly OSJAM's princess. Yukino is so wonderful that she was able to convince Edward to come to the New Year's party, a feat which even Tamaki would have deemed impossible.

Edward Elric: Ed is...angry. Tamaki is saddened by the fact that Edward just doesn't seem to like him, but that's not enough to get him down. He believes that beyond his tough exterior, there's kindness, just as he believes with everyone else. Tamaki is determined to bring a smile to Edward's face, even if it's just once. He's gotten close before, but that ended with Edward chasing him with a blade, and lots of French babbling. There's always next time.

Alphonse Elric: Edward's brother, and certainly nicer and more pleasant than he is. Tamaki has nothing but respect for those who heal others for a living, but especially Al. He may just have to enlist his help in a future attack on Edward's grumpiness. (Which will most likely fail gloriously.)

Deadpool: He hasn't spoken to Deadpool much, but he knows that if he or anyone he knows needs their fingers broken for any reason, this guy is the one to call! What a nice offer.

Kairi: Sora's girlfriend. Anyone Sora likes, Tamaki assumes must be wonderful. Kairi certainly is, she's absolutely adorable! Sora and Kairi together in the same room are too sweet for even Hunny to handle.

Rhode Kamelot: She prefers the title of 'Princess', and so that's what she will be. She's a little scary, if he's being honest. Apparently, she'd like to make Tamaki into a cake. However, nothing can stop him from being friendly~

Mary Faber: A.K.A - Jacky. They got off to an awkward start, when he let a bit of French slip and upset her. She's apparently had some rough times, and traumatic experiences brough on by the French people. Tamaki hopes that he can help her overcome her prejudice. And he'd love to get her a violin, too.

Lucy/Nyu: Nyu is the most adorable girl to ever walk any earth, in any dimension or time! She's very sweet, and doesn't have a great grasp on the language, but Tamaki can help! She seems to understand the gist of what he's saying, so as long at that's true, he can teach her! Tamaki has yet to meet Lucy, but that's sure to be fun.
