OPEN WEEKEND

To kick off the summer season, we hope to see you at our Open Weekend which will take place at the club on Saturday 14 April from 1.30pm and from 4pm on Sunday 15th. Come along with your family—this will be an informal event and give everyone the chance to play tennis, meet new members and catch up with some familiar faces

FRIDAY NIGHTS AND SATURDAY MORNINGS

We are introducing a new Friday night social play for children, from 7.00–9.00 pm. This will be organised on the hard courts by one of our popular older juniors, Ollie Butler, which will coincide with the adult mix-in on the grass courts with Ollie Lloyd. Depending on the weather, this is likely to start mid-May.

Saturday morning tennis will now be run by new coach Jonathan Yates from Saturday 21 April between 10am and 12 noon. At these morning sessions, please bring your own drinks and snacks. Note that the £1 will no longer be charged on these mornings.

COACHING

Sunny is introducing a series of coaching sessions for juniors from 4 year olds right up to experienced players on Wednesdays and Saturdays. For further information about these, please call him on: 07949 169 882.

ROAD TO WIMBLEDON

Once again, we are holding a tournament to enter a Thames Ditton finalist in both the boys and girls entry for Road to Wimbledon.

We’ll hold our tournament on Saturday 12 May in the morning and on this day will replace the usual Saturday mix-in. We will be taking names of any under 14s who would like to enter this during the weeks before, plus look out for the poster on the notice board.

SUMMER COMPETITIONS

The Knock-out Junior Tournaments will this year be organised:

  • into three age groups for Boys:
    • 11 and under,
    • 13 and under, and
    • 15 and under.
  • and two age-groups for Girls:
    • 13 and under, and
    • 15 and under.

Again, we will be taking names as we see you on Saturday mornings.

The HJC Tournament has already been scheduled for 24 and 25 July at the club and entrance forms for this will be available in June.

ST GEORGE’S LEAGUE AND NATIONAL JUNIOR LEAGUE

To those who are unfamiliar with these leagues, this gives juniors the opportunity to play matches against other clubs in their age groups.

We’re always looking for new players to be available for matches and, in particular, parents who may want to run a team themselves. There are usually no more than five matches in one season. Please contact one of the committee members if you are interested in becoming involved.

FAMILY FUN DAY

Another date for the diary: we will be holding a Family Fun Day at the club on Saturday 16th June from 2.00 pm. Here, juniors will partner up with parents or other adults and play a series of mini-sets throughout the afternoon, ending with an early evening BBQ. Please see notice board later on for full details.
