[edit] History

[edit] Before the Virus

Bennet was an agent for the Company for fifteen years. Early on, an accident during a bag-and-tag left an orphaned girl, Claire Bennet, whom Bennet and his wife adopted. Later they adopted a son, Lyle Bennet. After eight years, Bennet was forced to shoot his partner, Claude Rains, for turning against the Company. When Claire started manifesting her ability, rather than turning her into the Company as he'd been ordered, Bennet covered up the evidence of her emerging powers with the help of his partner, the Haitian, and Eden McCain.

Eventually Claire was discovered and Bennet captured. He escaped the Company's cells with the help of Matt Parkman and Ted Sprague. They travelled to New York to destroy the "tracking system," Molly Walker. Matt protected her from Bennet, who was prepared, though reluctant, to shoot her to save his own daughter.

Bennet then tried to help Peter stop Sylar, who had escaped from the Company after being captured during his attempt to kill Claire. After the events of Kirby Plaza, he relocated his family to Costa Verde, California, with the help of Claude, with whom he had reconciled after finding him alive (RP based). With the help of Mohinder Suresh, he intended to bring down the Company.

When he discovered an Isaac Mendez painting of his death, Bennet became obsessed with preventing it, and became distant to his friends and allies, ultimately bringing about his own downfall by alienating Mohinder. He was shot and killed while exchanging hostages with Bob Bishop (Elle Bishop for Claire), and resurrected by an injection of Claire's blood. He was kept in a cell in the high security Level 5 at the Hartsdale, NY facility until the virus was released. In the resulting confusion he managed to escape.

[edit] After the Virus

Upon his escape from the Company, Bennet returned to California and collected his family and Claude, ensconcing them in a house he fortified in the Lake Shasta region in Northern California. They stayed there, gathering supplies from nearby abandoned towns, for about a year. During this time his relationship with Claude deepened into something more than friendship, with Sandra's knowledge and consent.

[edit] In Game Developments

Shortly after the game began, Bennet left to search for Claire, who had run away a few months earlier. He hadn't felt that he'd made their base safe enough to leave Sandra and Lyle unprotected except for Claude until then. He went northward towards Eden, the only center of civilization he was aware of. There he was found by Candice Wilmer taken to Adam Monroe, who told him of his relation to Claire, but promised not to interfere with Bennet's claim of fatherhood. He also gave Bennet information he needed to locate his daughter, namely that Molly Walker was living in Corvallis with Matt Parkman.

He travelled to the outskirts of Corvallis, where he was picked up by a troop of soldiers led by Tasha Williams. He convinced her to let him speak to Matt, but, still suspicious, she brought Nathan Petrelli into the matter. Nathan recognized Bennet as the man who had tried to abduct him from his hotel room in Las Vegas, and learned that he was also the adoptive father of his daughter. He agreed to let Molly find Claire for Bennet, and told him to keep her safe.

Bennet returned to Lake Shasta, since Molly's ability had pinpointed Claire not far south of there. His hope was realized when he got home and found her already there. Upon learning that Claude had been attacked on a supply run, he decided that the area was no longer safe and moved the family to Eden.
