We need to be realistic here, as much as the current changes put active members at a major dissadvantage, it was made clear at the time that the 2006 offer was a "one off".

What we should look for is what the company said, so for example in response to one question about early retirement for members staying on the DB plans the company said:

A: With regard to your question about early retirement terms, these are the same under the Defined Benefit Section whether you continue to accrue future service benefits in that Section, or transfer to the enhanced M Plan for future service. The only difference would be your final pensionable earnings.

This might be a point at which to argue that the changes to early retirement terms are not what was promised.
