G9. What does closing to future accrual mean?

A. Employees who are members of the Defined Benefit plans would stop building up further final salary pension benefits for future service from the date the proposals take effect; they would have the option of joining the Defined Contribution plan at the time of closure.

G10. What will happen to the benefits I have already built up?

A. The pension benefits that Defined Benefit members have built up will be "preserved" in the IBM Main Plan (C, N and DSL Plans) and I Plan, based on their Pensionable Service and Pensionable Salary at the date the proposals become effective.

Enhanced M Plan members are not affected by the proposal to close the Main Plan and I Plan to future accrual.
