Like Todd Grisham, Tazz survived the cull of old WWE staff which saw the departure of Hall of Famers and commentary legends Lawler and Ross (who were fired from their Mayhem positions). Tazz quit his position as Massacre commentator due to his former broadcast partner John Eddinger. He has also been a trainer on Tough Enough and is a former Hardcore and Tag Team Champion back when the company used the WWE name. He is also an ECW legend. On 5 August 2008, Tazz and Cole were stunned when General Manager Chris Jericho fired Cole in favour of new Play-by-Play commentator John Eddinger. Tazz chose not support his friend, for fear of being fired himself. At DXX Anniversary, Tazz publicly quit his job after insults from him co-worker. He then introduced his replacement, Jackie Risko.
