Warden of the East
From Asoiaf
The Warden of the East guards the east of the Seven Kingdoms. The position is traditionally held by the Lord of the Eyrie.
Jon Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie, Warden of the East and Hand of the King, married three times.
Lady Jeyne of House Royce, his firs wife, died in childbed, her daughter stillborn.
His second wife and cousin, Lady Rowena died of a winter chill, childless.
Jon received Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon as his wards.
Aerys II Targaryen, King of the Seven Kingdoms demanded the heads of Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon from Jon. He revolted instead.
281 AL Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Jon married Catelyn and Lysa of House Tully, daughters of Lord Hoster Tully at Riverrun.
288 AL Jon and Lysa had a single son, Robert Arryn.
King Robert gave a tourney on his son's name day. Jon Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie was healthy then, but a fortnight later he was dead.
Jon, now Hand of the King, fell ill and died after a short while. Unable to save him, Grand Maester Pycelle gave Jon milk of the poppy to ease the pain.
King Robert did not appoint Robert Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie as the new Warden of the East due to his low age.
In a secret message to Catelyn Lysa said that Jon Arryn was murdered by the queen and the Lannisters.
A new Warden has not yet been appointed.
