King's Landing is the capital of the Seven Kingdoms. Order is kept by the City Watch.
During the Sack of King's Landing Aerys II Targaryen, King of the Seven Kingdoms was killed by Ser Jaime Lannister. Princess Elia Martell and her two children, Princess Rhaenys and Prince Aegon, were also slain.
289 AL Prince Tommen Baratheon, second son of Robert Baratheon, King of the Seven Kingdoms and Queen Cersei, was born.
Jon Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie and Hand of the King fell ill and died after a short while. Unable to save him, Grand Maester Pycelle gave Jon milk of the poppy to ease the pain. His wife Lysa and son Robert travelled back to the Eyrie.
King Robert decided to travel north with the royal family to see Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell. Ser Jaime Lannister and Tyrion Lannister were among those following the king.
