The Adventure of Wishes is a Yoshi Bodyguards story Topmonhit made on G&W. It was the final story he had to wrap up some side events that occured during the Dark Ages.

Story
Prologue: A Star-Studded Problem
After the Yoshi Bodyguards HQ was attacked out of nowhere by a band of Space Pirates at night, they recieved a letter while repairs were being done. It seemed that Peach was hosting a party, and they were invited. While some of them stayed behind to help repair the HQ, some others went to take a break at the party. There were many other guests at the party as well, including Mario and Oshy's brothers, as well as Noshum and Vivian. Topmonhit had some trouble thinking of all who would be there. Yoshi was there too, of course.
Soon, Princess Peach came out to greet the guests, saying that it was in honor of the YB. Unfortunately, during her speech, one of the Toads took off its disguise, revealing to be Metal Top. Metal Top then revealed to have the Beanstar, which had awoken due to Peach's speech! It then used the Beanstar to lift Peach's Castle into the air using a giant version of himself! He used the Beanstar to give himself invincibility, and once he was invincible, he simply blasted the YB out of the castle.
The YB eventually landed safely at Koopa Village, then decided to take the course of action of going to Star Haven to get the Star Rod. At Toad Town, they ran into Oshy's brothers, Noshum and Vivian, who told them they made it out, but Yoshi was still there. They hurred to Star Haven, but there they learned from the Star Spirits that the Star Rod had been split into 7 pieces when someone had attacked Star Haven, trying to steal the Star Rod. Oshy rationalized that since the story began like Paper Mario, the first piece might be at Koopa Bros. Fortress. Unfortunately, while traveling down Pleasant Path, they found a bridge was out, so they had to take a detour that led them to the first chapter...
On a side note, a crazy Koopa remained in Peach's Castle, attacking random guards until he ran out. No one knows what happened to it. In addition, a Lakitu named Daun who was apparently ebul remained in the castle as well, although in hiding.
Chapter 1: The Explosive Battle
They found the detour led them right into Bob-Omb Battlefield, and up on top of the mountain in King Bob-Omb's hand was a piece of the Star Rod! Apparently, although the bob-omb war ended years ago, King Bob-Omb returned, now with a piece of the Star Rod. After a brief cameo by Chompy, they hurried up the mountain to confront King Bob-Omb. King Bob-Omb put up a fight until he began to cheat and drop bombs at them from planes. King Bob-Omb came back up on the mountain, but suddenly another plane appeared--Sonic's plane, the Tornado! In a reference to MDY's Yoshi Bodyguards comics, Sonic's plane crashed into King Bob-Omb and he was defeated. Well, actually it was a fake Sonic. And so, they got the first Star Rod piece, red in color, and then an image of Thwomp Volcano appeared in the piece, revealing that was where the second piece was. And so, they went on their way...
Chapter 2: Mountain Climbing Adventure
Once the YB arrived at Thwomp Volcano, they climbed up it to the top. There, they were pushed off by a group of random Thwomps and fell into the volcano. They didn't fall very far, luckily, and began to head down the volcano. They met a Thwomp Statue that challenged them to a quiz, but they were able to win it. They continued down to the bottom, and then out of the lava came Mecha Bowser which began attacking them! After tossing attacks back and forth, eventually Mecha Bowser fell apart and was defeated, giving them an orange Star Rod piece. Before they could escape, however, Mecha-Bowser exploded underneath the volcano, causing it to erupt and send the platform they were on blasting out into the sky.
Chapter 3: Landed on Banshee Boardwalk
When the platform they were on landed, it crashed into Banshee Boardwalk, destroying the pier and scaring the Boos away. Then when they checked the location of the next Star Rod piece, they realized they had landed exactly where it was! Unfortunately, they destroyed the pier, causing it to fall into the water and sink down below. Thus, they had to call over a submarine from the YB HQ, which they used to go after it. Down below in the water, they found an old, sunken pirate ship.
They went inside, somehow finding that none of the water has gotten inside, and in the captain's room of the ship a pink boo appeared. The Boo was convinced they wanted his treasure, which was apparently the Star Rod shard, which meant they did want his treasure. They battled, the Boo battling somewhat similarly to Cortez, until he was defeated, disappearing and dropping the Star Rod piece. However, Sneen sensed something wasn't right... before anyone left the ship, the ship suddenly exploded, and a giant, dark Blooper appeared! However, it then left for some reason.
The only way they could escape was by using the ship they were in, so they went back to the captain's room and the Boo appeared again. After learning his "treasure" was a shard of the Star Rod, he agreed to let them have it, and introduced himself as Captain Pinkeye (although he wasn't really a captain). They used the Star Rod to lift the ship to the top of the sea, thus giving it the ability to sail once more. With 3 shards now, they went back to Toad Town, and found the next shard to be at the Crystal Palace.
Chapter 4: For Tacos the Bell Dingalings
When the YB arrived at Shiver City, they found out that the city was in a crisis--apparently a bell at the Crystal Palace had begun to ring, and every time it did, a resident of Shiver City was turned into a taco. Weird, yes. And so, they headed off to Crystal Palace to locate the source of the problem. Once they arrived, they looked all over the palace, but found nothing. Eventually, Sneezier tried to melt the bell, but that didn't work either. Suddenly Top, who was leaning on a wall, fell over, revealing a hidden room where a Duplighost was. The Duplighost revealed to have been the one doing the taco-turning, although it was only because he was bored. He used a blue star rod shard to turn them all back into penguins.
Chibi then tackled the Duplighost, trying to get his star rod shard, but he dodged it. He said he'd give it up if they could guess his name, but Oshy figured it out because it was on a sign above the doorway. Gluposs then asked if they would fix his TV in exchange for the shard. They all began to work on fixing it, and 5 hours later it still wouldn't work. Top then found that the cord was unplugged. That was stupid. Suddenly, they realized Gluposs had disappeared! They hurried outside to find him, but instead found Beldam, Marilyn and Doopliss! ...and another Shadow Creature!
A battle was about to occur, but they had to pause it for a while, so instead Chibi and Beldam began a shouting match. They also met a random Pianta named Atnaip. Finally, they were able to begin their battle, which ended in the mysterious Shadow Creature attacking and defeating them; it then revealed to be Gluposs in disguise. It turned out while they were fixing the TV, Beldam, Marilyn and Doopliss tried to steal the Star Rod Shard, so Gluposs pretended to be a Shadow Creature until they could be defeated. Thus, the YB got the 4th Star Rod Shard, and the next piece was revealed to be on... some island. It had coordinates, though, so they went to Pinkeye to ask to use his ship, and soon they were off to their next destination.
Chapter 5: The Banana-Tastic Adventure
When they arrived at the island, they saw a Dancing Banana near a bush. They saw a sign nearby that said "Banana Island". The Dancing Banana danced into the bush, after which hundreds of Dancing Bananas came out dancing at them. Soon after there was a bunch of confusion, after which Luigi, Jade, Mr. Game and Watch, and Pichup had disappeared. The Dancing Bananas entered a large metal door on a cliff, preventing them from entering. Oshy took out one of his books and flipped through it until he found a section about the island; apparently, a massive Raven Dancing Banana named Raphana the Banana lived on the island and knew all about it.
When they arrived at the top of Raphana the Banana's tree, they learned from him the password as being "PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!" How obvious. They went back down and opened the door with the password, then headed in. Top narrated for a bit, explaining there was a large machine in the back of a large room, and then the Dancing Banana King appeared, revealing he had turned Luigi, Jade, Mr. Game and Watch, and Pichup into Dancing Bananas! A short battle occured, in which they were able to turn everyone back into themselves.
They chased after the Dancing Banana King, and entered a battle with 15 Dancing Bananas. After they were gone, the Dancing Banana King sent Dancing Banana Yoshis, Fuzzies, Chargin' Chucks and Metroids at them. Once they were all defeated, the Dancing Banana King began attacking from his tank. Top snuck inside as Lightbulb Top, however, and blew it open from the inside, destroying it and the Dancing Banana King. They then got the 5th Star Rod piece, and left the island. Once they returned to Toad Town, they found the next shard was at... Cauldron Keep, even though it wasn't on Star World!
Chapter 6: Return of Witchy Fury
The YB flew off to Rareworld, where they landed at Isle O' Hags. They got to Cauldron Keep, but couldn't figure out how to get inside. Tingle appeared suddenly, asking if they'd like to buy am overcharged map for a secret entrance, but instead they just threatened to toss him in evil pink liquid. They entered through the secret entrance and found themselves in another quiz show, this time with Grunty. They won, so Grunty, of course, flew off like the end of Banjo-Tooie. As they headed through the Keep, they found a room filled with various inventions and a platform that brought them up to the top.
When they reached the top, Cackletta and Fawful appeared; Cackletta in her spirit form, and Fawful in his elvis suit from M&L2. A battle began, in which Fawful used his elvis outfit to sing, creating expoding music notes that... exploded. Cackletta used her dark magic. In the end, they were defeated, and the YB recieved the 6th shard; the purple one. Unfortunately, the purple shard wasn't revealing the location of the next shard. They went to Star Haven to get help, but the Star Spirits were unsure as well. Suddenly the image began to appear in the shard, but at the same time the image was up in the sky! It was a giant floating castle!
Chapter 7: The Wart
As soon as they entered the castle, they realized it was Wart's. They headed down a vase, then into another vase, and found Mouser inside Robirdo. Mouser had made some modifications to Robirdo, making it more powerful... except its backside was still weak, and it was destroyed. Mouser had a plan B though... an atomic bomb! Top ate it, though. Mouser was defeated. How pitiful. They then went into Wart's throne room. Wart had a few new tricks, including acid and lasers... but then Top used the Crash ability he got from the atomic bomb and defeated him. A white shard appeared, and the 7 pieces merged back into the Star Rod. Suddenly, though, the castle began shaking. Without warning, it began falling towards Star World! It suddenly crashed somewhere, causing everyone including Wart to fly out of it!
Chapter 8: A Wish-Powered Showdown
In Peach's Castle, Metal Top was holding the Beanstar up. He was just about to wish for control over Star World... when the castle shook, causing him to drop it, and it slid into a crack in the wall!
When the YB landed, they were at a technological area. Top had good news, bad news, worse news and horrible news: The good news was that they landed right where they needed to, which was the giant Metal Top underneath Peach's Castle. The bad news was, the Star Rod was gone. The worse news was that Oshy was gone. The horrible news was that... HE WAS HUNGRY! Anyway, they began to make their way through the giant Metal Top. The first thing they encountered was a large groop of Metal Top guards. They were fairly weak, so they got through them quickly, then advanced to the next area. There, they saw Metal Chibi, but it sucked and was destroyed.
In the next room, they battled against Metal Luigi. This actually put up a fight, but was destroyed with electricity. In the next room, they encountered robots of Danny and Pichup, and then during the battle Shadow Danny appeared! Metal Danny was defeated, but he escaped with Metal Pichup, and then Danny defeated Shadow Danny while Top threw popcorn at them. In the next room, the very center of the giant Metal Top, came... METAL BOWSER! While in its shell, Metal Bowser was nearly impenetrable, but it was knocked into a bomb on the platform and damaged. It then blasted fire at everyone, then it was repeated. This time, however, after being bombed, it fired its spikes like missiles. The third time, it was smashed into a bomb, and this time it was defeated. However, when it landed, the platform began to fall apart, and they had to hurry to the next warp.
The next room was like Final Destination from Super Smash Bros. Melee. Metal Master Hand appeared, and they battled it until Metal Crazy Hand appeared, giving them two foes! Eventually they were destroyed, ending the battle. ...until Metal Dancing Shoes appeared. They were defeated when Top began to sing a squaredance, causing them to dance right off the stage and into oblivion. In the next room, which was the top of the giant Metal Top, they found Oshy up hanging onto a laser! Top hopped onto a box, but the box then fell apart, revealing what appeared to be a giant brain. Eyes appeared on it, and it revealed to be in fact the brain of the giant Metal Top, which was the ORIGINAL Metal Top that had been converted to a ship long ago! After a massive battle, the giant Metal Top was deactivated, shutting off the main power of the ship. Oshy then revealed that he had held onto the Star Rod all along, and they all headed up to Peach's Castle.
Although the door was stuck at first, they simply blew it open then headed into Peach's Castle. They headed into Peach's room, and what do you know, there Peach and Yoshi were! They were about to get them out of there when Metal Top blasted into the room, ready for a fight to the death. The YB and Metal Top began using wishes to battle each other; eventually, they just ruined the plot and wished for the Beanstar. They then blasted Metal Top with a beam, destroying him completely and sending scraps of him flying everywhere. Strangely enough, they found a crystal that apparently was inside Metal Top... but they had no time to think about that just then, because suddenly shaking began to occur! ...again! The giant Metal Top was about to activate his self-destruct sequence! Luckily, though, the Star Spirits saved Peach's castle like in the end of Paper Mario, and the giant Metal Top was destroyed.
Meanwhile, up in space, on a meteor, a large and dark Koopa was unconscious... suddenly, a piece of Metal Top that looked like a brain landed on him, waking him up...
Trivia
- This story's original plot was much, much different and much, much more complicated. Originally, Metal Top would have awoken the Beanstar a time before the story actually begun, and then it would have disappeared, only to return later when someone named Topmonhit appeared to the YB, revealing that Metal Top had invaded the "real" Earth; this story would have possibly incorporated versions of the actual YB members. This, of course, was created long before Topmonhit the Mii or Count Bleah were even in any planning stages.
- The name of Chapter 2: Mountain Climbing Adventure is a reference to the SpongeBob episode "Idiot Box" in which Patrick suggests to SpongeBob they play "Mountain Climbinb Adventure".
- The name of Chapter 3: Landed on Banshee Boardwalk is a reference to the game Monopoly, in which Boardwalk is the highest-priced and best property in the game.
- The name of Chapter 4: For Tacos the Bell Dingalings is a direct reference to Chapter 4 of PMTTYD: For Pigs the Bell Tolls. Most of the two chapters are similar, with residents of a town being turned into something due to a bell, and a Duplighost was causing it in both cases. In addition, Doopliss had a television, and Beldam and Marilyn appeared in Chapter 4 of PMTTYD, although they were not fought.
- Chapter 5: The Banana-Tastic Adventure had the exact same name as Chapter 5 of an old comic series Topmonhit made that never had a name. It also had the Dancing Banana King in it, although the plots were slightly different.
- Chapter 6: Return of Witchy Fury includes the name Topmonhit often gives to the team of Cackletta, Fawful and Grunty, Witchy Fury. It also has Tingle in the chapter, who often appears trying to sell them maps for some reason.
- Chapter 7: The Wart, and indeed the Star Haven and Wart plot in the story, are somewhat similar to the comic series Paper Luigi: Pickle Star Dream. Topmonhit claims the reason is that Luigi's dream incorporated this adventure he had half a year earlier.
Connections to Other Stories
- When Federation of Evil Acquaintances disbanded, one of the main reasons was that Metal Top had betrayed them and stole the Beanstar.
- The end of this story is a foreshadowing of the next Topmonhit YB story, The Yoshi Bodyguards in Lemon Lime Time…
- Gluposs would reappear in Return of FOEA, where some YB remembered him from this story.
- Beldam, Marilyn and Doopliss would return in The Shadows, the Prankster, and the Hat, and some of Chibi's words from this story must have sunk in, as Doopliss quit working for Beldam in that story.
- One of the machines Cackletta, Fawful and Grunty had was a cloning machine. In Return of FOEA, they were able to get some of Dark Top's DNA, and in Tihnompot: Witchy Fury, they created a Fake Top to frame Top.
- This was the first appearance of Metal Danny and Metal Pichup; they are also the only robots that appeared inside the giant Metal Top to return later on.
