Dr. Scurf is a tan scarfy who acts as Shnalk Serpolm's trusted associate and assistant. He wears a false mustache due to his inability to grow one of his own, and although isn't entirely bumbling, sometimes makes mistakes that Shnalk as to get him out of. He dislikes going into the monstrous Scarfy form, seeing that as the more barbaric side of Scarfy. He has a rival in the form of Dr. Snap, an anglep that seems to hate him.

History
Assistant to Shnalk Serpolm
Dr. Scurf's past life before meeting Shnalk is unknown. Shnalk saw him outside his office one day, alone and sitting in the rain. Scurf was cold and lonely, and Shnalk took him in to get warm. They got to know each other, and having nowhere else to go, Shnalk invited Scurf to remain there, eventually taking on the title "Dr. Scurf" when he became Shnalk's assistant in detectivery.
One day, after returning to their home office from grocery shopping, Scurf was told by Shnalk that there had been a robbery at Pawno's shop. The two left to investigate, and Dr. Scurf found an apple leaf there. Pawno exclaimed that Dr. Scurf looked like the guy that had robbed the place, and after several more crimes, Dr. Scurf was arrested. Shnalk visited Dr. Scurf in jail, where he said he had learned from Chimeck that she foresaw Dr. Scurf not being the criminal. Shnalk was able to persuade the police to let Dr. Scurf go as long as he was under constant survillance.
When another crime was commited, it proved Dr. Scurf was not the one behind them (as he was under surveillance) and his name was cleared. Needing to find the true criminal, they questioned Chimeck, who discerned where the next target would be. They held a stakeout, and caught the fake in action, who revealed to be Dr. Snap, who considered himself Dr. Scurf's rival (despite Scurf never meeting him before). Dr. Snap attempted to turn into a beast and attack them, but was pitifully weak and defeated.
Times later, Shnalk and Dr. Scurf were approached by Plotumentary Inc. to gather information on a supposed shooting in Terrydactyland some years prior. They learned about the Raptor Trio, a trio of raptors that lived at Terrydactyland and disappeared one day years prior. There was evidence of a possible shooting, but what they didn't disclose was an eyewitness (as there wasn't enough information to go on it) that claimed they had been shot in the heart.
Sometime later, Dr. Scurf returned from shopping one day to exclaim that the leader of the Raptor Trio, Ripvor, was at the lagoon. Shnalk and Dr. Scurf went to him and explained what had happened to the other members of the Raptor Trio, and learning this, Ripvor dashed off in a hurry, leaving Shnalk and Dr. Scurf to wonder exactly what had happened.
Early Scurf
Scurf was originally a regular scarfy who popped up one day to the YB while they were at Popstar. (Somethin' about a disease... I dunno.) Scurf hung around them and stuff but eventually died off as a character, mostly due to his lack of arms, but also due to him being uninteresting. He appeared with a few cameos such as in X-Chaos; at the end pf Designs Revisited, the other retired characters that had cameoed in that story, along with Scurf, appeared. Scurf complained that Homestar Runner can hold things without arms, and realizing this was true, Topmonhit re-imagined Scurf into Dr. Scurf and brought him back.
Personal Information
Personality
Dr. Scurf is shown to be, not necessarily incompetent, but occasionally bumbling. He tries his best, but sometimes will cause unforeseen problems. He tries to be civilized, and therefore never goes into a monstrous scarfy form. Although he may not be the best at solving mysteries, he can have an occasional burst of insight.
Appearance
Dr. Scurf is a regular scarfy with a more wheat color than orange. He is often shown wearing a fake mustache, due to his inability to grow his own.
Abilities
Because Dr. Scurf refuses to turn into the monstrous form of a scarfy, he has no real abilities.
Items
Dr. Scurf is often seen wearing a fake mustache. Other than that, no real items are known to exist.
Residence
Dr. Scurf lives with Shnalk Serpolm in Jolly Roger's Lagoon, which features a large library and a rather peaceful setting. Whatever that means.
Interactions with Other Characters
Shnalk Serpolm

Dr. Scurf and Shnalk get along very well, having been friends, partners, and living together for years. It was Shnalk who helped Scurf get things back together when he was alone and lost, and even though Shnalk usually has to get Dr. Scurf out of situations, the two are good friends and often work together.
Dr. Snap

Dr. Snap seemingly inexplicably dislikes Dr. Scurf with a vengence, and often tries to make his life miserable or fight him in various ways. Dr. Scurf cannot remember anything he has done to him, nor has Dr. Snap ever made reference to anything--it just seems Dr. Snap dislikes Scurf, and sees him as a sort of rival. Nearly every time they meet, fighting occurs, with Dr. Snap snapping at Scurf (puns!) and whatnot. Dr. Scurf has no animosity to Dr. Snap that hasn't come about from this.
The Unused Characters
Scurf was once a part of a team of retired characters consisting of himself, a TAC named Clat, a chain chomp named Chompy, and a shy guy named Lysh. Their only appearance was in X-Chaos, where they were a part of a team in a Smash Bros.-esque fighting tournament. Later, Dr. Scurf left the team when he became a listed character again.
Trivia
- For Halloween 2009, Dr. Scurf went as Pom Pom.
- Dr. Scurf is the second Kirby character of Topmonhit's to be an assistant to a non-Kirby character and therefore live on a non-Kirby planet, with Testube being the first.
