Downsides

The more spaces you place, the more space and memory you take up. However, in TimeSplitters: Future Perfect this can be overcome to an extent with Biohazard's Map Memory Glitch.

TimeSplitters

Unlike the MapMakers to come in later games, the MapMaker in TimeSplitters doesn't seem to follow a pattern, every tile is different from each other, causing for very unusual maps. There are also a few things that were in this version only:

  • Multiple places for items in one tile, about 5 for a 1x1 tile.
  • There were 5 Tilesets in the NTSC version of TimeSpltters while there were only 4 in the 2nd and 3rd NTSC games, they were: Industial, Gothic, Virtual, Alien and Spaceport.

And some things that were carried over into the 3rd installment:

  • The MapMaker music was featured in the MapMaker of TS1 and TS3 but not in TS2.

TimeSplitters 2

The small rooms cost a lot of space compared to a Large Room. And spawning points cost some space. Also, beginning in TimeSplitters 2, the Mapmaker also has the added ability of making Story levels.

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect

The biggest downside to TimeSplitters: Future Perfect's Mapmaker is that you can only play up to eight bots in each map due to a glitch. For the first time you can add a sky, decorations, baracades, up to four Jeeps to your Mapmaker levels, and remote controlled cats. The sky can have different conditions like rain or snow. New turrets have been added to Mapmaker too. And for the first time, you can stack tiles to make a higher room with a sky or so everything can be level the same.
