John Crosby called out Shawn Matthews to return to NECW and face him in a No Holds Barred match in order to answer for his leaving NECW. Fatal and Matthews was also getting more and more vicious as the two continuously interfered in one another's matches and played mind games. Aaron Foley and Adam Owens made statements as they sprinted into their Triple Threat Freestyle Championship Match against J Fatal. Danny Madness also continued to improve as he nearly beat Murph, obtained victory over John Crosby, and went toe-to-toe with J Fatal.

In the Championship feud, Murph and Reed's hatred for one another began to boil over. Murph destroyed Onya the week following JWA to make a statement to Reed, uncharacteristically losing his cool in the process. He then leveled Reed a week later in order to save fellow stablemate Nick Adams from a Knockout Elbow. Reed responded by opening the next show by knocking out Some Dude in a Mask before Murph arrived. The two had an intense confrontation immediately after, with Reed playing mind games with Murph and his past of being a social outcast. The two ended up brawling viciously to the ramp before being pulled away from each other by Crosby, Bonnet (Murph's brother), and PJ Matthews. In a tag match main eventing that same show, the two once again brawled into the backstage.

On Day 1 of AR3, Danny Madness defeated Shawn Matthews with the help of The Crippler to further make a statement to his critics. Bonnet was viciously attacked and knocked out backstage by Reed, with Murph arriving too late to help and left visibly furious. Adam Owens also pummeled Nick Adams causing him to lose via DQ. The Crossbreeds (Murph and Crosby) became the fist ever two-time NECW Tag Team Champions after beating Toasted Butter (Dinguu and Senor Suave) and The Highrollers (Case and Foley). In the main event, Matthews threw everything he had and then some at Fatal, but Fatal relentlessly shook it off and obliterated Matthews, picking up a victory and sending shivers down the spine of everyone in NECW.

Matt Case easily defeated Kevin Johnson in his open challenge match. In the end, Crosby sent Matthews falling 15-feet down a ladder and through a table riddled with thumbtacks. However, the event did not end. As Reed celebrated, Danny Madness' music hit and he emerged with a referee and the Money in the Bank briefcase. The ref declared he was cashing in and suddenly Madness vs. Reed began. Reed kicked out of his own finisher, delivered to him by Madness, and hit one of his own after a vicious kick to the face. Everyone believed Madness to be out, but he kicked out with the smallest of margins possible, becoming the first person to do so. Madness quickly gained the upper hand by hitting one of his finishers, The Falcon Arrow, but Reed refused to die. Madness had enough and hit Reed with a second Falcon Arrow that lined Reed up with the corner. Madness, to the cheers of the NECW crowd, climbed the post and hit a devastating '''Swanton Bomb'''. Three seconds later, the crowd erupted as Madness ended Reed's one-year reign as a world champion and reached his dream of becoming the second NECW Champion.

Northeast Championship Wrestling is a backyard wrestling federation based in Bethel, Connecticut and was founded in 2008, combined of Backyard Championship Wrestling (BCW), Extreme Wrestling Alliance (EWA) and Kick Ass Wrestling (KAW), which opted to merge together under the problematic hosting area conditions for EWA and BCW rather than both organizations repetitively making appearances at KAW.

History

Origin

In January 2008, Murph of Backyard Championship Wrestling (BCW) and PJ Matthews of Kick Ass Wrestling (KAW) negotiated a meeting between both federations at KAW's flagship event, Adrenaline Rush 2 in February. This process created a friendly mutual bond successful enough that BCW made reappearances every two weeks since they had no place to wrestle at the time. Shawn Matthews, founder of Extreme Wrestling Alliance (EWA), visited KAW upon his return to backyard wrestling entering a dream match against PJ Matthews eventually deciding to bring along members of his federation in preference of touring several federations over the course of the summer. Soon, holding events in designed areas for BCW and EWA became vastly problematic, prompting talks of merger between Matthews, Murph and John Crosby, all three bookers of KAW. As a beneficial solution, everyone agreed to fuse into one entity in June.

Birth of Northeast Championship Wrestling

In June 2008, the final event for KAW was at KAW Northeast Showcase 2008 which became the first unofficial event of Northeast Championship Wrestling featuring talent from BCW and EWA and holding contention for the NECW Tag Team Championship inagurally crowned to Black Davy Bonnet and Tangredi, who overcame three top talent teams.

Once the federation was formed, the booking core evolved from John Crosby to PJ Matthews and Murph, working collaborately in booking all events in 2008. An NECW Champion was still yet undetermined, and in initial order of business, the EWA, KAW and BCW Championships were pit in a unification match, where after KAW's Ace Reed defeated EWA's The Crippler and BCW's Murph, he became the undisputed NECW Champion.

Moreover, NECW shortly introduced the NECW Freestyle Championship, designed as a title where the champion is permitted to select the stipulation in his defenses and the first reign was victored by The Caveman following his win against Matt Case. This was also around the period that conceived The Renegades stable consisting of PJ Matthews, Ace Reed, Shawn Matthews, Danny Madness, and for a time Nick Adams and Aaron Foley as well as the PJ Matthews effective gimmicks, "I Am Better Than You" and "Are You Alive?".

Media Delay

As fall emerged, time became limited for video editing on several shows which had been recorded for online submission causing a blackout for NECW. This led to trips outside of NECW as the federation started attending the Jersey-based Jersey Wrestling Allstars federation in August 2008 participating in the heavily successful Jersey Wrestling Allstars 1 supershow. PJ Matthews, Ace Reed, John Crosby, Danny Madness and Jack Lethal represented on behalf on NECW to a wider audience of the backyard wrestling community.

NECW talent PJ Matthews and Ace Reed travelled to New York for the primary event of Round Lake Syndicate Wrestling (RLSW), RLSW No Remorse 3 and festivities included PJ Matthews defeating former Championship Wrestling Association star, Joe Randa in a high profile match. The NECW crew also attended a Backyard Wrestling Elite (BWE) show BWE Rise to Superstardom hosted by Ryan RAGE. The group of Murph, PJ Matthews, Ace Reed, John Crosby, Danny Madness, and Davy Bonnet made an attendance.
