Renxli

Renxli, the Soul Scourge is a being crafted from tainted chi. Initially an experiment by a Yama King, Renxli proved too uncontrollable and a blight even by its tainted creator's standards. The disappointed parent attempted to destroy Renxli, but failed due to the spirit's ability to split its essence and regenerate by feeding off and corrupting the chi of life forms around it. Renxli attached itself to spirits and mortals all throughout the middle kingdom, growing stronger the more it fed, leaving corpses in its wake like a massive plague. Only through the combined power of eight Chi'n Ta gathered by Grandfather Lei and Grandmother Fung was Renxli forced to coalesce into its true form and finally bound within the Book of Silver and Jade.
Some years later, Renxli escaped the book with the other two spirits trapped within, spreading quickly among the people surrounding the Wei Society. Catching sight of Anjora, the spirit recalled her from before its time in the book and followed her to eliminate the competition and to make a quick snack. While it battered at the wards erected around the apartment complex, Hao Wei quickly gathered Dewei, Miao Yin, Lao Ma, Kwok Wong, David Parkman, Masi Masakashi, and Andrew Chow the Apothecary to reconstitute the eight individuals to re-enact the original binding spell used on Renxli. The eight of them were possessed by the spirits of the Chi'n Ta ancestors that initially did the spell, freeing their spirits to assume a War Form and battle the leech segments of Renxli attempting to attack the apartment residents and those performing the spell. While dealing with the pesky mortals and Anjora, the sealing spell was once again completed, forcing the entirety of the tainted chi spirit's essence once more within the book.
