A kindly elderly woman, Lao Ma is unassuming and plays her part as the sage well. One of the Wei Grandmothers, Lao Ma is also an accomplished Tao Priestess, often training Hao Wei in the use of the Taoist implements and other principles of their school of magic. Often nudging things subtly in the apartment complex, she influences the actions of Hao, Dewei, and Miao Yin without giving them any idea what she is up to during the course of the conversation. Paired with Kwok Wong as the longest living members of the Wei Society, she holds sway over half of the complex members while he holds the remainder.

Oddities revolve around the woman, as Dewei found her as one of the villagers trapped in the time rift within the gourd at the museum, and Hao saw her as one of the original members of the Chi'n Ta circle that trapped Renxli. Her War form has her wearing ornate and professional Taoist robes, and she is now one of the ministers newly appointed by the ancestors to work with Hao.
