Kyler was born and raised not knowing his biological father; it's debated on who the man actually was, given that Adrianna and her son bore no resemblance to one another. However, that was never really an issue that was brought up anytime afterwards. Things weren't all that bad for the boy growing up -- he was living a happy little life living out in the country. A loving, cheerful mom and a roof over his head, what more could he even ask for? He had what he did, and that was all that should've mattered.
At least, until the nightmares began.
For nights on end beginning at the age of 8, Kyler would traumatize himself with visions of the future -- ones that he didn't want to have. Death, destruction, blood everywhere. The poor kid was basically crying to his mother every night, not wanting to sleep at all after what he'd just seen. And Adrianna, being the pinnacle of stability in the le Roux household, took this as a sign that her precious little boy was actually a schizophrenic freak. Kyler was promptly disowned, and shipped off to a mental institution so that he could become 'right' again.
Fat lot of help that did, really.
For six years, all the doctors and psychiatrists tried valiantly to penetrate his subconscious, but the constant prodding and questioning only made Kyler more withdrawn and scared; not to mention that the nightmares were growing even worse and there wasn't a thing anyone could do to help him about it. As time went on, his fear turned slowly into bitterness and anger -- at the doctors, at his mother, at whatever the hell it was that cursed him with what he was forced to live with.
At the age of 14, it became apparent to Kyler that there was no way to escape his actual fate, and decided to break out of the hospital by his own means. What these means actually were, no one knows -- all that the doctors remembered was that his records had vanished and been mysteriously destroyed. Since then, he'd been living on the streets of Sydney, sleeping on private beaches or in abandoned buildings, with occasional access to an old computer in a nearby library.

After being summoned to the events leading up to the end of the world, Kyler quickly fell into place among the Angels -- more often than not showing nothing but disdain for their Gemini, Dwayne Manly. However, he was quick to help assist them in the destruction of their city, taking part in the second Harbor Bridge attack, deciding that Centrepoint would be the next barrier to fall, and near-murdering John Kay for the hell of it. Despite his lack of useful powers, he proved to be more than just some dreamseeing wacko. (...at least, until the whole 'stalker' thing where he went crazy trying to DEFEND HIS TREE FROM THE SEALS OMGZ!!)
That wasn't to say that the whole 'dreamseeing wacko' thing wasn't happening more behind the scenes. In between wanton destruction and slumming about, Kyler's dreams were permeated by past memories with Adrianna, causing him to question why he was so fixated on hating her -- and then hating himself for feeling as such. In a fit of frustration, he made an impromptu attempt to end his mother's life once and for all with an arson attack on the house they grew up together in; several days later, he was shocked to discover through the local news that there was no evidence of her body, and she was still alive.
In the early hours of November 17, 1999, Kyler left the house still bewildered over his mother's being alive, and encountered a fully alive John (presumably on patrol for the Seals at that time.) They had a small-scale battle, which resulted in Kyler's head being encased in a water bubble, effectively asphyxiating him. He died some time later on the street.

Having finally come to terms with his abilities, Kyler no longer lashes out like he did at the institution; however, he still retains an air of complete and utter crankiness. He has little to no patience with most other people and will probably fight back if provoked a certain way -- however, if someone is actually saying something of interest (ie; if someone else is cursing humanity just as loudly as he is) he'll listen and show appreciation in his own cranky-pants way.
He's also quite a bit of an insomniac, even without his constant nightmares. He'll waste the nights away simply mulling on things before passing out in some random place, only to wake up mid-afternoon, left wondering if things the day before actually occured.
