Caught up in the whirlwind of drugs, sex and an easy way out, Reanna let herself do whatever she could to get away from the memory of her dead parents and the job she had just lost.
But with irresponsibility comes trouble, and it wasn't long before Reanna was pregnant with a child whose father she didn't know. But she also couldn't deal with having an abortion, despite not having enough maturity or money to raise a child on her own, so she kept the child.
Nine months later, Clare Jaye Lawrence was born in one of the many hospitals of New York City, wailing in her crying mother's arms, a cranky, overworked doctor and a couple of half-awake nurses waiting impatiently for Reanna to stop crying to ask a few questions.
But still, even with her daughter's birth, Reanna didn't leave behind what she had gotten herself into, instead moving Clare from home to home, raising her in the alleyways of NYC and letting her grow up between prostitutes and drug dealers and homeless people. There was never a place Clare could call 'home', while the closest thing she had to a friend was her mother, who was as good as no friend.
Being dragged along and waiting for her mom to finish talking with the drug dealers, Clare started talking with an elderly man who approached her. He told her about the end of the world, the Dragons of Heaven and Earth, about her role and her powers - she thought he was insane, like any 12-year-old would, but with the manifestation of her powers and the beginning of her prophetic dreams, she realized he had been telling the truth.
Three years later, Clare found herself without a home, thanks to a deal between her mother and a drug dealer. Reanna would let the drug dealer live with her in exchange for his drugs, and as any desperate drug addict would, she agreed immediately, kicking Clare out.
It took her a long time before Clare found herself a way to earn money and a tiny apartment in an old, run-down apartment building. She juggles two jobs as a waitress and a clerk, and also attending night school, but she quit it a while after Lucian's choice to become an Angel. Now, Cody, a fellow Angel and her boyfriend, lives with her, where they generally sit around and help their Kamui whenever he has plans.

Clare has lived in a city that taught her to speak up, that taught her to say what has to be said when it needs to be said. She's forward and blunt, preferring to be clear-cut instead of beating around the bush and being nervous and avoiding things that need to be cleared up.
Despite her straightforwardness, Clare is still easy to get along with, as she usually has a smile on her face and she's always happy to lend an ear or talk, although she'll usually deal with problems very coldly, thinking it's best not to make a big deal out of something that can be easily fixed. Her attitude carries over to her own problems, which she'll deal with in the same cold way, staying as clear and precise as possible.
She usually keeps to herself when it comes to her past and her problems, preferring to keep them as far away as she can. If asked about it, she'll usually laugh and say it's not that important - she doesn't like not saying anything, especially since she'll hide nothing about her other matters, but it is a subject she'd rather forget about.

Clare is a Dreamseer, but she also has the ability to possess people for short periods of time. Possessing people takes concentration and a lot of effort, and it also drains a lot of energy from her. If she possesses people for a second too long, she will probably faint afterwards.
