Governors

Retirements

Two Governors, both Republicans - Tim Kent and Brian Murphy - are running in the Republican presidential primary and are unlikely run for re-election if they win the Republican nomination. Otherwise, all incumbents are expected to run for re-election, except for Kyle Baccei, Republican incumbent and former Presidential candidate, who is retiring after one term of service.

Kyle Baccei (R-TX) of the Sunbelt

Kyle Baccei had spent much of 2018 preparing for a potential presidential run, but withdrew from the presidential race shortly after the 2018 general election in order to focus on re-election to the Governor's Mansion [1]. He retired afterwards, handing the nomination to Mitchell Davis [2]
