• Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) manifests her powers sporadically in New York City. It is indicated that this is not the first time this has occurred. Kitty’s mom (Theresa Pryde) emails Xavier about helping her daughter and is responded to. Jean Grey meets the Pryde family and takes them to Xavier’s school.

• Theresa Pryde enrolls Kitty in Xavier’s school with the condition that she is not to become of of the X-Men.

• Jean has a breakdown as she starts seeing visions of the Phoenix.

- Jean references that they know the school is sponsored by a consortium of anonymous billionaires.
