Raven's appearence.

Raven/Rachael Roth

Character Description

Raven has dark purple hair, which came from her mother, Arella. She dons a dark blue cape, held together by a brooch with a dark figure of a raven (hence her name) against a red background, and a blackish-blue leotard, with a chain belt around her waist.

Raven's Powers

Raven's powers include: Flight, telekinesis, healing, being able to send out her soul self in the shape of a raven, the ability of entering another person's mind (seen in Haunted), and other powers that derive from her dark-energy powers. It is revealed in Switched that Raven has to keep calm at all times, as her powers multiply in strength, and become increasingly out of control. Because she is half demon, she was trained to use her Azaranian (Azaranean?) powers of healing, and to control her emotions at all times.

Raven's background

Raven is the most mature of Titans West, and possibly the oldest.

As the half-demon daughter of her father, Trigon and her mother, Arella, Raven is the most mature and mysterious member of the Teen Titans, as she needs to control her emotions, in order to prevent Trigon from taking over her. She is gifted with extra-ordinary powers. In the episode Nevermore Raven loses complete control of her emotions and mercilessly attacks Dr. Light, terrifying him and causing him to develop a fear of her (evidenced in "Birthmark", where she made him surrender in a matter of seconds by appearing as she was when her full power was revealed).

In the comics, it is stated that Raven was separated from her mother at birth, so she could not experience the strong feeling of attachment toward her mother. After her guardian's death when she was still a child, Arella raised her. Raven eventually left Azarath at age 15, hoping to escape The Prophecy, as it was approaching the time when she would help him come to destroy Earth. It is hinted that Raven had some-what forgotten or had completely forgotten about the prophecy, as she did not know about the symbol on Slade's head, which was the mark of Scath.

Raven is a fatalist most of the time, and portrayed as a Gothic girl, due to her nature, clothing, attitude, and room decor. In "The End part 1", she willingly chose to follow Slade, and become the portal for her father, allowing the prophecy to come true. Although she was regressed into child years during Trigon's reign, she was able to user her powers to revert back to her current age, banish/destroy her father, and return the world to normal.

Trivia

  • Raven states that her favorite color is blue, in The End: Part 3.
  • In Nevermore, the happy emotion of Raven stated that he was funny, and in Go! the real Raven had stated he was funny, after laughing at one of his jokes, but in different episodes, Raven stated that he was not funny, and that she did not laugh at any of his jokes.
One example is in Sisters Beast boy said "See? She thinks I'm funny", and Raven replied "Well, somebody has to..."
  • Her birthday was the only birthday mentioned in the animated series.
  • Raven keeps a mirror in her room, which she uses in her meditation, as it is a portal into her mind.
  • Although Raven is emotionless, it is possible that she does reveal feelings once in a while.
Rorek was able to charm her in Spellbound by pretending that he was Malchior, a warrior that had defeated him and had sealed him in the pages of her spell book.
