J. Alaric Productions

From Sodor Island Forums

What can we say about J. Alaric Productions that has not already been said? Well, quite a bit, as nothing has been said about it so far. Let us rectify that situation.

Origins

J. Alaric Productions started out as 'Alaric's Audio Parodies', with the forum's first audio parody based on Alaric's first parody, 'Cows'. It was surprisingly popular, considering it consisted mainly of Alaric reading out his parody, making slight additions when he thought of them. Building on this success, he went on to do more projects including an original audio parody of 'Bertie's Chase', with his good friend JimBobDunnie playing the part of Bertie. This too went down pretty well.

Sometime around autumn 2005, throwing all originality aside, Alaric turned his eye to redubs. He looked upon the various varieties the forum had to offer and said to himself, "Me too!" With help from Jimbob, he chose 'Rusty and the Boulder' as his first episode to redub. And after a little while, he had made 'Rusty and the Boulder: The Redub'. The thread changed its name to 'Alaric's Stuff' to reflect on the change, and the downloading began.

The redub was more of a success than Alaric had ever considered it could be, and is still quoted today. Not as much as it used to be, but sometimes at least. It soon became the most downloaded feature of Sodor Island Fansite, a fact that Alaric is still very proud of. In fact, it is not uncommon for him to mention this fact at any given opportunity.

Building on this triumph, Alaric announced a vote to determine the focus of his next redub. After a stunning 4 people voted, it was decided that 'Tenders and Turntables' would be the next redub from 'Alaric's Stuff'. Then Hyperboards crashed, and everyone was pretty bummed.

As soon as the Proboards forum was established though, Alaric jumped back with a new thread, 'J. Alaric Productions'. It was under this moniker that he released 'Tenders and Turntables' and the sequel, 'Trouble in the Shed', arguably his finest production to date. It is these redubs that hold 'The Fat Controller's Monologues', where The Old Bean will speak to the audience in the persona of the Fat Controller, with images added by Alaric.

Who knows what the future will bring for this studio? Certainly not Alaric, but he hoped that whatever it is, it will be enjoyable.
