Kurinen

From Slinkiwiki

"God, but evil twins are the lamest plot device ever made. It's just like, 'Oh look, this is what the main character'd be like if he had a goatee.'" - Oscar Wilde on Kurinen

Kurinen is Krine's evil brother. His magical talent comes from his mother's side, much opposed to Krine's physical abilities, reminiscent more of their father. As such, Kurinen is an impressively competent mage who has chosen to specialize in spells of a fiery nature.

Quite a while before the story began, Krine and Kurinen were actually quite close. They had a falling-out after an incident that occurred when the two were sent to prove themselves by their parents to the site of a demon summoning. The exact circumstances that caused the two to become estranged have not been revealed yet, but suffice to say, it was quite thorough, as it caused both of them to leave their homeland through self-imposed exile.

Kurinen seems to spend a disproportionately large amount of his time coming up with ways to severely inconvenience and annoy Krine. When questioned, Krine simply shrugs and leaves it at "That's just my brother for you" or "He's just like that." Kurinen rarely sticks around to watch his hindrances at work, and usually leaves with a comment similar to "Show me how you handle THIS one." It is implied that he is more testing his brother than actively trying to kill him.

Kurinen adorns his right ear with a red ribbon, and is only ever seen wearing a black cloak with black pants and a red vest underneath. When he casts magic, he draws glowing red glyphs in the air or, if in a hurry, pulls out a small piece of parchment with a glyph already drawn on it, which ignites and leaves the glyph burning in the air.
