National Letters Exchange

From Requiem Uk

Overview

The National Letter Exchange is the premise for one of the main UK Invictus (IC) mailing lists.

As a recognised member of the Invictus you can contact the Guild of Marathon, and a pursuivant or courier will turn up in good time to collect your letter. Within 12 to 24 hours a high quality printed version of the letter is personally and securely delivered to all other active Invictus in the UK by agents of Marathon. The letter arrives as an accurate high resolution copy, printed onto the finest quality paper stock, with a small watermark of the Guild of Marathon crest visible on each sheet. Payment for this service is preferably handled on account, with the Guild charging a standard rate of £100 per sheet requiring distribution.

Expectations and recommendations

  1. If you have an important announcement or invitation to send, it is expected that you send a personalised copy of the letter to particularly notable (read as high status) Invictus at least a night or two prior to sending the letter out via the exchange.
  2. It is worth remembering that letters sent via the exchange are received by all manner of Invictus, high and not yet high. By sending a letter via the exchange, you are intruding upon the time of your fellow Covenant members. It is best not to be frivolous with this opportunity.
  3. It is considered bad form to send an open response to a particular letter on the exchange unless the author expressly asked for such.
  4. If you wish a letter to be sent in any format other than a finest quality laser copy on finest quality (GoM watermarked) paper then sufficient copies will need to be provided when the letter is collected.
  5. It is generally expected that your character includes their full name and titles beneath their signature. Mentioning your characters status level can be handy too. You are ooc required to include your ooc name and membership number at the base of every mail.
  6. As each letter is collected from a subscriber it is not possible to claim a letter is sent by another member of the Unconquered (the Guild of Marathon knows where they picked up each letter from). If you are sending on behalf of someone else please note that it was sent by "x" on behalf of "y".

Background

In the early spring of 2007, Lord Randall Channing, Patron of the Guild of Marathon, commissioned Mr Dixon Lee, Pursuivant and Master of Horse for the Guild of Marathon, to provide a practical proposal and reasonable quote for organising a national letter exchange for the Invictus of the United Kingdom. This was not to be a modern electronic exchange, but a means for Invictus to conveniently send proper physical letters, invitations and announcements to a Guild of Marathon agent, for the letter to be respectfully duplicated and then suitably delivered to all other active Invictus within the United Kingdom, within 12 to 24 hours. A proposal was soon provided, a set of formation quotes was agreed then paid, and the National Letter Exchange was initiated and ready within 2 weeks.
