Climate

The Temperate Belts are not entirely unpleasant for humans. Temperatures range from 15C to 35C, with varying degrees of rainfall. Chemical precipitation is infrequent, and usually mild, so most colonists can walk about outside without fear.

Flora and Fauna

Like most of the planet, The temperate belts are dominated by Native life forms. Infrequent Chemical Precipitation permits human habitation, but puts terrestrial species at a significant competitive disadvantage against the already well-adapted Natives.

Population

The bulk of the colonist population ekes out it's existence in the temperate belts. Most colonists participate in their settlements' small agricultural projects, but are still highly dependent on food farmed in the polar regions and the ubiquitous nutrifood. Others work as craftsmen, Carbon 122 miners, and soldiers. Crime is a rapidly growing problem, especially in the poorer settlements, and some desperate colonists have taken to raiding neighboring settlements for resources.
