Nutrifood is a common colony food source, appreciated for the nutritional value and ease of creation. Much like yogurt, nutrifood is created using bacterial colonies combined with high nutritonal value proteins and minerals. As the bacteria ferment, they combine the nutrients into a lumpy paste, which is then dried and shaped into bars.

The main complaint about nutrifood bars, aside from the rubbery consistnacy, is the bitter taste. The fermented bacteria leave much to be desired, as the bitterness and sour combine to form a chewy bar that tastes vaugely of tar. However, despite the taste, most colonials will try to eat at least 1 bar a day due to the amount of necessary minerals present.

Due to the ease of creation, nutrifood bars are not considered a barter item on their own. Most trading is done with days of bars, each "barday" consisting of 4 bars.
