Chapter Six

The rain drizzled down, Wayoshi hurried to the comm center. The door to the comm center opened, The Security Guard saluted, “welcome Sir” Wayoshi was quick to return the salute, “At ease sir” Wayoshi commanded Wayoshi looked at the comm officer Stumpers, “What’s wrong?” asked Wayoshi Stumpers pointed to a small screen on his desk, “Sir we received this transmission four minutes ago.” The screen came to life, nothing but a dark voice could be heard Wayoshi caught nothing it had said. “Play that back” ordered Wayoshi Stumpers nodded. The words the screen said was “Ybs” The voice played back, nothing no one in the room could recognize, the video played back over and over, on through the night.

The hooded figure watched, he waited for the perfect time, the ‘Master General’ the greatest rank a solider could grasp. He had been through many battles, those in the heat, and the cold. Some in the rain, some in cities, others in barren wastelands. Victories and loses, he waited; he sat up to his feet and walked out the door. The war that would engulf the world was calling him…it was a call Xzelion couldn’t stop.

The sun was setting over the eastern horizon, it was a beautiful sight; Ultimatetoadette loved the feeling of the sun shining down on her. Fg the mouser had agreed to Help Arend and Ultimatetoadette find her brother. The trek had only begun but Ultimatetoadette’s feet were hurting. Arend strolled beside her, while Fg was their guide. The sunset and trio decided to call it a night; they pitched their tents and made a campfire. Ultimatetoadette snuggled in her sleeping bag fell asleep, when she heard something. She got out of bed and walked outside.

She was quite surprised when the five gunmen captured her and her buddies. She could make out one thing...they were not human. They spoke in a tongue she did not know, The five gunmen set up a perimeter around the camp. Whatever they were planning to do with the trio would be horrible. Fg figured the gunmen to hold them hostage, and ransom them to the government. Arend sat next to Fg looked Fg in the eye and whispered. “I’m sorry I got you into this…” Arend said Fg shook his head “It’s alright…” A single gunshot was heard, one gunman crumpled to the ground, another shot rang taking out another gunman. A grenade fell to the ground…it was a flash grenade, Fg cover Ultimatetodette with his body so no stray bullets would harm her. The gunmen were blinded by the grenade, Fg was too. He heard three more gunshots. And the campsite fell silent. Fg’s eyes adjusted quickly, he notice a well built soldier standing in the center of the campsite. The soldier was in his early thirties or so. The soldier was armed with a machine slung around his back, and a pistol in his left hand. He smiled, “Hello my name is Xzelion, are you okay?” Ultimatetoadette smiled, “Now we are, thank you.” Xzelion nodded, “are you headed somewhere?” Fg nodded, “we are headed to find Ultimatetoadette’s brother.” Xzelion ran his fingers through his hair, “I can help.” Arend tilted his head sideways, “How” he asked Xzelion pulled out a comlink, “I work for the ‘Shroom Army, I could use the radar system to find him.” Ultimatetoadette’s face brimmed with joy, “Thank you Sir!” Xzelion nodded, “we better head out then…” Xzelion walked away and came driving by in an old army-type Jeep, he smiled,”Hop in”

Plumber walked down the narrow path, his body hugged the canyon walls, one mistake and it was game over. Plumber finally got to the end of the canyon, built inside of the mountain was a small shack, were Grodus was said to live. Plumber, with the gentlest of a touch slid the door open. When suddenly a blast swept him of his feet, with his long arms he grabbed the canyon edge, beneath him was sharp jagged rocks. “Wait!” Plumber heard a voice cry, it was voice he’d know any where…It was Super mario97. Sir Grodus the Sysop stretched out his hand and pulled Plumber to his feet. Plumber say behind the huge Sysop was Super mario97, but he looked very different. Super mario97 was in a…a spacesuit? Plumber asked himself. Behind Super mario97 was a large purple puni as well as 10 other things he’d never seen before.

Mario97 explained it all to Plumber and the Forces of Light, the Puni called ‘Pun’. The forces of light strolled down the canyon and was at the bottom of the massive rock when, “Wait!!!” shouted someone. Mario97 snapped and turned around, it was Paper E. Gadd. “If the suit fails…you’ll die…” said the professor. Mario97 sighed, “what now then?” Paper E. Gadd smiled, “I go with you…” Plumber smiled, “All right we finally have a brain in the group!” Max2 threw his frying pan at Plumber… Plumber rubbed his head, “Oh yeah…and you too.”

Wayoshi watched as a small jeep drove toward the base, the jeep drove next to him. It was a friendly face. Wayoshi smiled, “Xzelion, it is good to see you, what brings you here?’ Xzelion returned the friendly smile, “War, it is coming; I can smell it in the air.” Wayoshi looked confused, “Who are your companions?” Xzelion’s smile faded, “just some people I picked up along the way.” Wayoshi noted all three of the companions, when get got it. “Xzelion come with me!”

The video played again. Xzelion noticed the language, “That is ancient Talon…” Wayoshi turned to him, “what is it saying?” Xzelion frowned and turned to Wayoshi, “War…”

The army took the outpost by surprise; the entire base was destroyed in seconds. The turrets, the shield generators, and the comm station were all destroyed. Except a single soldier…The soldier hurried up the stairs, he turned around; the dark creature was in hot pursuit. All hope was lost. He stood on top of the staircase. He unsheathed his blade. He sliced one creature; he pulled out his command pistol and opened fire. The creatures were endless, he blasted one, but seemingly everyone he killed another appeared. The swung his blade and fired his pistol. The sky had grown dim, the sun setting. He smiled, a blade pierced through him. He fell to one knee but still fought. He fought to the death…

The ‘Shroom Army had received word from the ‘Black-way Base’ of what happened. Xzelion and Wayoshi sat looking at each other, “This is terrible” said Wayoshi. Xzelion nodded, what’s even worse is I know who lead this Dark Army…” “Who?” asked Wayoshi Xzelion shook his head, “My brother…Revan.”
