Chapter 2: Traitor's Crown
From Lord Of Utterdom
Excitement brews just under your skin. It's a big day for you, and you can hardly contain your feeling of splendor as you rush to prepare for our coming journey. You change into your traveling clothes, which still would stand out as unreasonably ornate against a peasant's normal dress. You fasten your cloak about your neck, pack a change, and fasten your longsword at your waist. You marvel at yourself in the mirror after you buckle up your shin-high riding boots. You are as handsome a man as Utterdom had ever seen, and now you would be out in the world to let them gaze upon your very visage.
It will be pleasant, you think to yourself, to be out from under the watchful eye of your father, the king. While he is in no way cruel, he is vastly over-bearing in his grooming. You are his only son, and someday you will take his place upon the throne, and while you know he intends only to prepare you for this, you find the lack of freedom rather pestering.
So, it seems you're ready to be off. Adventure awaits, and you can only imagine how much fun you will have. Of course, you do have to see to the pesky task of investigating a rumored traitor, but it seems a minor exchange for such possibility.
